Publisher's Summary

Sparks fly and passion ignites between two reluctant lovers who must overcome the pain of their pasts to find happiness in this enchanting novel in New York Times best-selling author Lisa Kleypas’ wildly popular Hathaway series.

Hired as a companion to the Hathaway sisters, Catherine Marks has built a new life for herself, away from her dark past. She adores her delightful charges, and the lively Hathaway household is the closest Cat has ever had to a family of her own. Everything is perfect - except for Leo Hathaway, the girls’ charming and utterly exasperating older brother who drives her to distraction. But when their heated sparring explodes in a sudden kiss, Cat can no longer deny the powerful attraction between them - or the thrill she feels when Leo makes her a shocking proposition.

To save his family home, Leo must marry and produce an heir. The reformed rake vowed he’d never love again after tragedy shattered his heart. Yet the prim and proper Cat challenges him in surprising ways, and her beauty and prim demeanor fuels a desire he cannot control. When the secrets Cat has tried to outrun threatens to separate them forever, Leo and Cat must find a way to banish the ghosts of the past to build a future together.

Love Lisa Kleypas

Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with Lisa Kleypas. Having said that, this is one of her even better books! I love the humor and there’s so much chemistry and passion between the Hero and Heroine! I loved the story and like most books by Kleypas, the ending wasn’t cheesy. Highly recommend!

Didn't Do It for Me

I wanted to be sympathetic toward the protagonists but he never lightened up on being a control freak and she went from being staunchly against him to bending like a noodle while "m' lording" him during love-making. I'm not keeping it in the Hathaways Collection.

Worst Hathaway story!

I really hated this book. I know in order to have a book there must be drama and intrigue, but this story is so stupid. Katherine is the most stubborn character ever imagined. I know her childhood warrants distrust of others, but she’s so dumb, and yet insists she’s so moral and smarter than everyone else. Why doesn’t anyone in this series have emotional intelligence until the end of the book? I know it’s just a book, but it’s not even entertaining one drama after another. I really hated this book so much I skipped much of the ending just to get to the happy parts. Easily skipped if you want to get to the end of the series.

Leo & Catherine

Truly, this book was delightful with a winning couple. Leo takes the prize as the most fun book boyfriend ever! The relationship of the two developed in incremental stages, although Catherine's hesitance to commit to Leo was a bit annoying.
Still, I recommend highly.

very disappointing

Several years ago I read the Hathaway saga and loved it. This revised version isn't near as good or what I expected, it barely mentions the Gypsy Brothers Irish connection. and this fourth book jumps back and forth with events that occurred earlier. Choose the the original stories if you can.

Better the 2nd time around!

Oh - Leo! It took 4 books to get to the heart of you. (Plus a reread!) The author takes time with this hero, allowing us to move from hate to love. He’s witty and wicked - his redemption worth the wait. Dialogue was smart, sexy, fun; this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

More Leo Please

The male leads in this series are all attractive in their own way - better than others writing in this genre with pretty much the same description for most. Kleypas portrays character personalities where they can actually take shape and there’s believable attraction and longevity. Leo is a new favorite given his personality. I found myself chuckling more than once. Enjoy!
