Such a good story.

I fully enjoyed the series Wildes of Lindow Castle and finally decided to listen to "My Last Duchess." Oh, how I liked the dialogue and the Duke and soon-to-be Duchess and their wrangling and canoodling. Eloisa James remains one of my favorite authors in this genre. What a treat! I do note Susan Duerden as narrator did not inspire me. I wished I had read this in ebook instead of listening in Audible.

Recommended for a light, quick listen

I enjoyed this book more than any other Eloisa James novel that I have read before (even though I am not a fan of the narrator, Susan Duerden). That is not saying a lot, since I have sworn never to read EJ again on several occasions. This book was in the Audible Plus Catalog, so it was free. I'm glad that I tried it because I liked both main characters. Hugo was gobsmacked by Ophelia, but she was a happy widow hesitant to take on Hugo's eight children.

The romance is sweet and charming, as are the children.

Nice Distraction

I enjoyed it very much even if I doubt it in real life. It was still a nice distraction.

Delightful!

A lovely prequel to the series, this book was just as fun to read as I'd hoped! This would be a pleasure to read whether you've read all of the other series books, or none at all.

The narrator did a lovely job as well. 😊

I love it for my 2nd romance book.

I absolutely love the romance and I wish someone could love me like the Duke loves Ophelia ugh

Needs New Narrator

James always excels at blending children in her novels this was no exception. However I did not think it was realistic to fall in love in one night. The H was a little boring with his over the top comments of love. I liked the children and our h. But it is time to get a new narrator that does not over dramatize and draw out the syllables. Really there are great narrators Change now.

Sweet

I enjoyed the story. Different from most romance. Unusual for the hero to have 8 kids and two former wives...but it sort of works. I liked Hugo a lot. He did give up quick after Ophelia turned him down. However, she DID tell him to go away. The kids were all fun and I fell for Hugo when he put Viola in his coat and snuggled her asleep. SO sweet!

Susan Duerden isn't my favorite narrator but she did an ok job.

Good but too short

The narrator is obviously dependent on the listener. I thought she was good. The story was sweet and well written. With that due to being a novella I don’t feel audible should charge a full credit.

Short but Sweet!

I very much enjoyed this prequel! The story was sweet and romantic. And I love the narration by Susan Duerdon!

okay now I've got to go back and read all the other books to this series. this was a wonderful read.
