Publisher's summary

He tried to escape. But something followed.

After a grueling trial, Alex Roth had reached the University of Generasi and learned much about the Mark of the Fool and how to exploit it for new paths of power.

Making friends and training in alchemy, all seemed to be going well.

But shadows stir.

The dark secrets of his homeland haunt him. His sister—Selina—learns that she is what she hates most. And unfriendly, monstrous eyes track him.

As he tries to live a normal life, he must risk danger to uncover dark secrets, survive the wrath of those that call upon demons, and avoid the gaze of a hunter from an ancient enemy....

And that is when the murders begin.

Oh, and he still has to make sure he can pay tuition.

In book two of the best-selling series, continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

1 and 2 could have been 1 book

I thought it was WAY better than the 1st book. I was apprehensive after the 1st book just… ended. Likely a money grab by the publishers.

This reminds me of Patrick Rotfuss

It's a good bridge story with interesting characte

This is a good bridge story Besides that it's also a very good development of the story and that each character starts to become more in depth we have to deal with the fact that the sister is having some problems because of the type of magic she is now discovered that Her affinity is something that trauma with it because of her parents death and trying to tell her it's OK this not a bad thing In the fact that he may have to go some place he doesn't want to go and he doesn't and hes worried about people finding His big secret but he has to tell someone and we get to see the fallout from that as well The only thing I have problem with really is that the space between books I think we're I've listened to the 1st book in the 2nd book concurrently and I just wanted to listen to the 3rd book but unfortunately after wait a couple of months

Continues where first left off

The author just does such a great job of explaining the way the world works in an easy to understand way. Romance is done well, humor is there action a plenty. Cannot wait for the continuation of this series.

Pleasantly Surprised

I caught myself not wanting to put it away. Great world building, versatile performance by voice artist/ narrator, and great storyline.

Very enjoyable read

The story is not ground breaking but it’s fun read that keeps me engaged. There’s actually some character development, good world building etc.
