Publisher's summary

A short Christmas romance to warm your heart this winter.

Lottie

I hate Christmas. The LED lights give me a headache. I can't sing. And I get sick. Every. Single. Year.

This year is the worst. My nan is practically on her deathbed and has planned for the biggest Christmas party this world has ever seen. Everyone will be there. Lucas Green is invited. My childhood crush. The guy I've been stuck in the friend zone for years.

This is my last chance to get him to notice me. But how do I stop looking like an idiot with all the Christmas cheese at every turn?

Lucas

It's the best time of the year. Business is booming. My cousin Ada is about to give birth any day now. The town is full of cheer. And Lottie is coming home for the holidays.

This is it. The year I finally make a move. Otherwise, I think Ada will kill me.

Problem is, every time I see her, my legs turn to jelly and I act like a total idiot. I need to woo her with lots of Christmas surprises.

I mean, who doesn't love Christmas? Nothing can go wrong.

An adorable Christmas story including all of the couples from the Love Me series. Laughter, tear-jerking moments, and swoon-worthy romance all wrapped up with a Christmas bow.

Christmas Magic!

Lottie has been down on her luck, but she keeps her unique sense of humor. Forced to drive her mother home for another overly large Christmas celebration, she answers the door of the family manner to find Lucas standing there carrying a box of goodies for the party. She would recognize that tuft of hair and the legs below the box he’s carrying anywhere, and she is embarrassed that she answered the door as Lurch! Thus rendered nearly speechless. Lucas, who is Lottie’s senior by six years, has always seen her as a little girl.
Jobless, verbally-incontinent in front of the guy she likes, and reminders of past hurts plague this time of year for Lottie.
You will enjoy this story overly pushy family, Christmas magic, and romance!

Perfect for fans of the series...

Love Me, Darling by Laura Burton is the last/fourth book on her Love Me series, but can be read as a standalone once you get used to all the names thrown at the beginning. I liked getting to know Lottie and Lucas, especially with a character like hers, where, due to personal reasons, she isn't a fan of Christmas. Of course, it's fun getting to see her thrown into all the activities surrounding the season, and finding out there are perks to certain traditions, such as the kiss under the mistletoe. However, since this is a novella, things happened rather quickly for me, and even though this is supposed to be compensated by the fact that they've known each since forever, I never fully got that impression.

As for the narrator, I have to give her points for adding the explanations, gasps, sighs, and so on from the different characters, since most of those are usually only mentioned in the narration. However, I think I'd have loved this book more if the voices between Lottie and Lucas, as well as other characters, would have been more clearly differentiated; also, I found it a bit jarring that a character's voice could change so much.

Overall, I think this a sweet romance and great addition that fans of the series and of Ms. Burton's writing will love to get their hands on.~ 3.5 stars

PS: It'd really help if the male on the cover (either the old or new) would have blond hair, just as the description in the book.

Not a bad short read

I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong 'voice' for the wrong character. For this book, I didn't feel the male characters were 'male' enough in their voice and heard some confusion in who should be talking. That said, it wasn't extreme enough for me to not listen.

As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. This is a short story with a happy ending. It has good character and story development. Even though it is book 4 of a series, as a reader who never read books 1 - 3 I was easily able to follow the story and characters.

I received a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Christmas magic

This story had a lot of funny and awkward stuff but definitely it brought about the real magic of Christmas.

Friends to Sweethearts

This book has got its bases covered in the cute department!

Lucas and Lottie are friends who both want something more, but neither knows how the other feels and so they are finding their way toward what they both want.

A Friends to Sweethearts story that is perfect to cuddle up by the fire with.

I didn't personally care for the narrator's voice, but she did a good job with her performance.

Cute holiday romance

A sweet holiday romance I listened to on audible. It's part of a series but can be heard or read as a stand alone. The characters are interesting and the story fun and engaging.

Great book

I liked this book! Wonderful characters and great storyline. The narrator was a little fast and at times it was hard to tell who was who.

Quite An Emotional Christmas

Prepare for a tug on your heartstrings as you listen too or read this shorter novel. It is the perfect length for an evening relaxing by the fireplace while enjoying a special Holiday eggnog. The storyline covers several topics that make Christmas such an unbearable holiday for the protagonist, Lottie. The author touches on parental desertion, terminal illness, death, social ineptitude and unrequited love as issues that make the upcoming holidays so difficult for Lottie. She travels with her Mom and is miserable due to her fear of driving, but after arriving at her Aunt’s home, the doorbell rings & Lucas stands there before her. Could this Christmas turn out different for her? A snowballing of events culminates into something unimaginable yet beautiful and Lottie’s belief’s about Christmas are challenged when she’s faced with potential happiness. Will she pass on this chance or believe in Santa’s power?

I found this novel a sweet, heartwarming Christmas story that’s great to read or listen too after a busy day of getting ready for the holidays. It will remind you of what love, family and Christmas is all about. This book is part of a series and some of it’s supporting characters are featured in the other novels. Despite this, “Love Me,Darling “ is a stand-alone novel and the author does a very good job with character development. The narration was fairly well done, although, to better differentiate the male characters, a change to a slightly deeper tone would have been helpful. Overall, this was an enjoyable read/listen and I would recommend this novel to any reader who enjoys lighthearted holiday love stories.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest review. I am not related nor friends with this author. The opinions expressed in this review are fully mine unless identified as that of another person.

This story will put Christmas back in your heart!

I listened to the audio version of this book.
This was a short, sweet holiday romance that will put the holiday warmth back in your heart. It starts with Lottie and Lucas being friends as they have been for years. Although Lottie has loved Lucas for a long time, Lucas was apparently clueless...until the mistletoe incident. Things start getting interesting then.
There is a whole gathering of secondary characters that add a lot to the story. I love it when secondary characters are about as important as the main characters! A delightful story!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
