Publisher's summary

If anyone ever said being an adult was easy, they hadn't been one long enough. Diana Casillas can admit it: she doesn't know what the hell she's doing half the time. How she's made it through the last two years of her life without killing anyone is nothing short of a miracle. Being a grown-up wasn't supposed to be so hard. With a new house, two little boys she inherited in the most painful possible way, a giant dog, a job she usually loves, more than enough family, and friends, she has almost everything she could ever ask for. Except for a boyfriend. Or a husband. But who needs either one of those?

Wait for it

I loved this story about a woman who after a terrible relationship, forgets about love for a while the finds the perfect man for her. I love all the books by this author.

So much goodness!

Another solid hit by Mariana Zapata! This one had me tearing up as pasts were revealed. As always, I love seeing the cameos by previous characters. And fingers crossed that Tripp and Jackson get their own stories one day.

I loved it!

I loved this book! I’ve already listened to it twice in 2 weeks because I wasn’t over it yet. I love how fiercely independent Diana is and how great of an example she is for her nephews she’s raising. Dallas shows multiple sides of himself and is kind of hard to read for a bit but then you just get to see the profession of them slowly becoming more than friends. Dallas stole my heart in this book with all the things he’s remembered that Diana has said and how he is with the boys. Dallas just helping lift part of the load from Diana little by little is just the sweetest thing.

❤ Melted

Just when I review one of Mariana Zapata's books and say it's my favorite then I listen to another one. The hits just keep on coming! Another slow burn worth the wait especially in the last few chapters. Definitely drove around with my hand on my heart while listening.

Callie Dalton as the narrator for each character in this and all the other books makes each character sound unique. Loved how she voiced the 5 year old Louie and 11 year old Josh-believable, not forced.

And like her other books, I'm putting this one on replay👍👍

The very best of the best

I have read this book twice and listened to the audiobook three times and its still not enough. I don't have the words to express how much I adore this book. I wish there were more like this out there... And more Mariana Zapata books. I LOVE every single one but this is definitely my ultimate favorite book I have read in years!!! More please!

Read/Listen In Order

Mariana Zapata nailed it with this book!!!
Read/Listen to "Kulti" and "The Wall of Winnipeg and Me" first. It isn't a series, but I really enjoyed getting a little more on what was happening with the characeters from those books in this one.

Lots of heart

This is a great story about an aunt raising 2 young boys after their father dies. There isn't a lot of action yet it wasn't boring at all. The romance builds really slow with very few steamy scenes (I really like steamy scenes) however, the story has so much heart, I'm going to have to give it a 5. I'm really stingy with 5's!

If you are looking for a book with lots of sexy scenes, this book isn't for you. It is more of a "contemporary love story."

Even better the more you listen

We all have them, the comfort listen. The audio we go to when we need a re-charge or just want to visit with old comfortable friends. This is one of my favorite re-listens. It gets better every time. The words are amazing thanks to author Mariana Zapata, but they come to life when read by the amazing narrator Callie Dalton. You will not be disappointed with this audio book. And be careful this may not be the only time you listen to it.

Superior Slow Build Up

Diana has her story with Dallas and it's a wonderful slow build up to the real romance and relationship. You get a real understanding of the quirkiness & struggles that make up Diana, a real loving human being trying to be "the better" without the falseness of made up melodrama. Zapata draws you in whether it's the frustration of getting the kids out the door for school & sports; or the deep grief for Rodrigo (&Mandy) triggered by "the socks". The icing on the cake are cameos with Iris & Dex, Sal & Ray, Vanessa & Aidan. Dalton does a great job with the audio version. I loved the written version when this book first came out, & I'm loving the audio version, too. Well worth the asking price.
