Publisher's summary

"It’s an interesting tale about how the princess rejects her riches and flies free from the castle.”

My story isn’t quite so glamorous.

Well, not the part worth telling.

After my parents tried marrying me off to the wealthiest investor, I ditched their sheltered nest and set off with my own agenda. This summer is my chance to begin again.

Fulfill the dreams that were previously ignored. The adventure starts at a secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere.

That’s where I find him avoiding civilization.

Nash Hudson is a broody recluse holding a major grudge.

With stormy eyes and a perpetual scowl to match, his dark mood tries to steal my sunshine. I take his hostility personally, only to discover he doesn’t like anyone. Little does he realize that my stubborn streak rivals his.

As it turns out, Nash is the tortured hero my love story is missing.Too bad he’s very reluctant to fill that role. Thanks to a little luck—or a strike of lightning—he’s forced to face me.

I’ll break down his walls as if this soul searching depends on it.

Or maybe I’ll end up getting lost in him instead.

A lot of sunshine and a lot of grumpy

When Penny's parents try to marry her off to a business partner, she think it's time to reject the princess life and take off and live life as she pleases. Her adventure starts at a secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere, literally. She'll spend the summer there. Her landlord is Nash Hudson, a grumpy recluse who has crossed off "peopling" from his daily life for the past seven years. His dark moods will not steal her sunshine.

Nash has avoided human contact as best as he can. He spends his time making exquisite furniture with his sidekick, Rune, his dog. He is satisfied with his life... until he sees her, in her underwear, dancing her little butt off. All it takes is one storm to bring them together, but events from the past might bring them apart.

Penny is an interesting heroine. Though coming from wealthy she embraces "the simple life" with glee. Nash is the quintessential broody, sexy hero who hates everyone but Penny  (even Penny in the beginning!). Their romance is a slow burn, but then it bursts into flames. Penny is a virgin and I like how her first time was not romanticized as it usually is - it was fumbly, painful and awkward and Nash, who was completely unaware of that detail, tries his best to make up for it when he finds out.

The book is basically the journey these two make to each other. I only wish wet had a lot more backstory for both of them. I was also a little confused as to why Nash thinks he is so underserving of Penny's love. His reason for living in seclusion didn't mesh with this self-loathing he shows for the whole book.

All in all, a swoony story!

Narration: I picked this one up for #moorvember and Samantha Brentmoor killed it! No surprise here. Her Penny is perfect and her male voices are scary good! She's accompanied by some unknown guy, this Jacob Morgan fella who is not too shabby. ;) (yes, I am joking people.... )

Possible triggers: toxic relationship with parents, mention of loss of parents

Absolutely amazing story !!

Sweet and Sassy Penny was the perfect opposite to Nash's brooding quiet guy! I loved every second of this audiobook! The narrators were absolutely perfect and made me fall in love with the story even more❤️

Heart throb

I wish I could start this book all over again, I absolutely loved the main characters and the cute little pup. The development of the ML was perfect and the author didn't try to completely change him for the FL. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick read that'll make your heart squeeze!

Swoon!

I loved this so much. I laughed and although there was a touch of drama and no one was really hiding anything persay it wasn't anything blown out of proportion.

This love was easy and wonderful and it was about 2 people just finding their happiness. They had an easy banter and this was a feel good romance.

Loved getting lost in this romance!

Lost in HIm by Harloe Rae was just the grumpy sunshine slow burn romance I needed that did deliciously good things to my heart. Seriously, this book made me want to escape reality and get lost in the woods with my broody, hunky carpenter! Penny is the light to Nash's dark and both have several walls to tear down on their way to HEA, but once they do, their chemistry to magnetic and undeniable!

This audiobook is narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Jacob Morgan. This is the first time I've heard these two paired together, and they did such amazing things with Harlow's words and all the characters. Samantha was fantastic portraying Penny's sass, determination, and wit as she broke free from her parent's clutches and found her way into Nash's heart. Jacob was swoon-worthy conveying Nash's broody, vulnerable, and passionate persona. Both narrators were spot on showcasing Nash and Penny's simmering hot chemistry.

Overall, I loved this audiobook. If you are a fan of opposites-attract romance with a hot, grumpy carpenter, a ray of sunshine-like heroine, outrunning the past, secrets, small-town gossip, witty email banter, slow-burn spicy first times, lake swims, a sweet loveable loyal dog, a crazy plot twist, and a HEA that you will want to get lost in, then you will love Nash and Penny's story. I'm looking forward to more from Harloe Rae.

The hermit…

The hermit and the socialite. A Florida socialite decides to go against her authoritarian father and spend some time in a small mountain town across the country. There she encounters a hermit with PTSD and makes it her mission to draw him out. Cute story with sweet HEA.

Couldn’t finish it. Pretty bad.

Couldn’t finish this one. It just meanders on and on. The female protagonist, when voiced by the male narrator, sounds like some nasal whiny teenager. Hard to like her.
