New York Times Best Seller

"Dark and twisty, with white-knuckle tension and jaw-dropping surprises." (Riley Sager, New York Times best-selling author of Home Before Dark)

In this smart and chilling thriller, master of suspense Mary Kubica takes domestic secrets to a whole new level, showing that some people will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.

People don't just disappear without a trace....

Shelby Tebow is the first to go missing. Not long after, Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah, vanish just blocks away from where Shelby was last seen, striking fear into their once-peaceful community. Are these incidents connected? After an elusive search that yields more questions than answers, the case eventually goes cold.

Now, 11 years later, Delilah shockingly returns. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, but no one is prepared for what they'll find....

I actually SCREAMED in the middle of this book!! When you get there, you will know what I'm talking about!! I've been following Mary's career from the start with THE GOOD GIRL, which remains one of my all time favorite books, but LOCAL WOMAN MISSING is going to give it a run for its money. Thoughtful, real characters and perfectly paced prose are Mary's signature and she gets better with her talents in each book. And, no spoilers but the end is SO SATISFYING!
Thank you, Mary Kubica! You make reading so much fun.

Best Kubica yet!!!

**TW** graphic sexual assault descriptions throughout the book! Caution before reading

I loved the back and forth between both the timelines and the different points of view. I did not see the end coming at all, the author does a fantastic job trying to keep the ending a mystery until the very end. Probably one of the best books I’ve read in a few years

Overall amazing story

Seems like the book could’ve been shorter, but the ending made it worthwhile! I would say it’s definitely worth listening to.

Great ending

*Spoiler Alert*
To me, this didn't live up to Mary Kubica's previous books. Story was ok, but one of the main characters actions stretched the bounds of how someone would really react a little too far...ie. no one is THAT stupid. When listening you find that character's actions more frustrating than suspenseful. Anyway, listened through the book so I could find out what happened. Ending was satisfying if more than a bit unbelievable.

A little disappointing...

This book was pretty good, but some chapters went on waaaay too long. The author over tells the story, and it gets pretty annoying. Things are repeated and drawn out with way more words than necessary. Sometimes less is more. The main female narrator is pretty whiny, and sounds like she’s in pain with every word that comes out of her mouth. Her voice is shaky and she constantly sounds scared, even when she shouldn’t. That is also annoying. That being said, I still enjoyed the story. It’s not a terrible book like some of the reviews say, but you should know what you’re getting yourself into. It was not predictable, which I appreciated.

Pretty good, unpredictable
