I loved this story. It felt like a real world experience in a flawed world

Predictable story but still entertaining

I liked the characters in this book a lot they were very endearing. I was curious to see how she was going to turn the beginning into a romance. Once they settled in one spot though the plot became formulaic and very predictable. Enter one bad guy, conflict happens they overcome, happily ever after.

Good story

Definitely kept my interest. Cute and funny. This author is a new favorite. Her stories aren’t as long as I prefer - but worth the credit .

Great Story and a fun listen

It takes genuine talent to make an end of the world novel fun and lighthearted. Don't get me wrong, there are serious moments in the book, but overall you finish the book with a light, happy feeling. I also appreciate having the man in the story be the person who falls in love first and isn't afraid to be honest about his feelings.

I love the world Kylie created and find myself thinking that I wouldn't mind the end of the world if I ended up with the people in this story. I am hopeful that there will be additional books because I want to not only return to the town and find out how it has grown, I want to know how the other inhabitants fare.

The narrator Andi Arndt does an excellent job of conveying the sarcasm and wit of the main character. Her character voices are so good that you almost forget it is just one person acting out all of the parts. Even though I had already read the book, I found that I wanted to continue to listen to the story. I also like that there is the read and listen option so that if I am standing in line at the store I can pull out my kindle app and continue reading the story until I can get back in my car and listen again.

This was a very good read from start to finish, after hearing the first 5 minutes I was HOOKED!
This read got me through my whole shift at work. No regrets getting this book.

I should have expected this from the title, but I didn’t, this book felt like The Walking Dead without the zombies, just the bad humans who want the world for themselves. I wasn’t expecting an MMC who would kidnap his neighbour to save her, but I loved the banter at the start, especially the line: “Oh, you rummaged through my underwear? Don’t stalkers do that before kidnapping?”
When they met Sophia, it was a true testament to Dean’s loyalty to Astrid, he would stand by her even if it meant getting sick from the virus. Watching their relationship grow was so good, and every time Astrid was hurt, Dean made sure those who hurt her paid the price.
The way Dean would say “where is my wife” melted my heart. They slipped so naturally into that relationship and became a family with Sophia. I’d love to read more set in this world, especially as they rebuild society and face more people trying to destroy their peace.
I listened to this on audio, and Andi Arnt was incredible (as always, I’ll listen to anything she narrates, and luckily, she narrates a lot of this author’s books). While the spice was light, that moment before their first time when Dean said if they continued, he would no longer be sleeping in the other room 🔥.
If you like The Walking Dead, a morally grey MMC, and a golden retriever girl-dad vibe, this book is perfect for you.

So good!

I loved this concept. It's different than other books I've been reading, and it was really exciting and suspenseful. Kylie Scott writes character better than anyone, I absolutely loved them. Andi Arndt is a pro. Highly recommend!!

Cozy Apocalyptic Romance

This is so up my alley. I loved it. Imagine COVID but everyone died. literally. But your hot ex-military neighbor kidnaps you before the virus can get you in order to save your life and thus starts this crazy adventure at the end of the world... it's like walking dead without the zombies and more HEA.
I will say, the amount of times the author uses "it's not like _____ but here we are" is A LOT. like, TOO MUCH. So 👏🏻 many 👏🏻 times. No, we get it, you're in the apocalypse. Shit is weird. With that being said, I did cackle a hell of a lot more- the FMC one liners are so relatable and I loved them. The epilogue had me swoony.

I love the apocalyptic story.

I loved the whole story. this is a book of substance. not just a romance. thank you Kylie. always love reading her books.
