The Korvil have attacked Earth, setting into motion a full-scale war that humans have little hope of surviving on their own. In the heat of battle, the Shiravans come to their rescue, turning the tide of the enemy invasion. This forms a tentative peace between the two races, but there are many more steps before reaching a full alliance.

The aftermath of the attack on Earth leaves millions dead and mixed emotions between the earthbound nations and the spacefaring Alliance. Tensions rise as governments try to infiltrate the organization in order to gain an upper hand in world politics. However, the Alliance has bigger fish to fry as they learn more about their new enemy - the Korvil. Like something from a science fiction book, the massive, bear-like creatures know nothing of peace or mercy, only of power and war. They will stop at nothing until they are the alpha race of the galaxy no matter who they have to kill - even their own.

As the war continues, Kitty Hawk, Herald of the Terran Alliance, accompanies a few ships to the Shiravan homeworld in hopes of cementing their partnership to defeat this threat. As she reaches the alien world, she realizes there is more than meets the eye with this peaceful race. Will the leader of the Alliance be able to come to terms with the Matriarch, or will humans now face two powerful threats instead of one?

Just simply enjoyable

I don’t know this authors background, but I’m guessing it’s not in literature because his writing is not overly complex; honestly it that makes his stories very enjoyable to listen to. Some great Sci-fi authors pack so much into each of their sentences that they are hard to follow especially if you listen while working like me. Bob’s writing is plain, but good. His stories are simple, but good.

... This is good sci fi intrigue and action

I know I keep picking on Mark B. about keeping characters distinctive from each other, but as the character names get more phonetically complex a distinct voice could help. Book 3 is enjoyable as plots within plots take place.
I eagerly look forward to the book 4.

MARVELOUS SERIES: Each book that follows is better

Whilst I have enjoyed books 1 through 3, none of them are nearly as delightful as book-4. What a splendid finale!
Generally, in connection with other great SCI-FI audio books I have enjoyed, I have usually preferred the first, original volume...
Notwithstanding such an experience, the opposite occurred this time around, for each book of the STELLAR HERITAGE group appeared to be increasingly most dynamic and exciting than the previous one.
Although the Epilogue contents (of Book-4) did not transpire any suggestion for another chapter, I daresay that I do look forward to a "follow-up" work from the author - Bob Mauldin; I truly hope that he will surprise me.

one of the best

It's the best scifi I've listened to in a long time. I just wished I was able to buy all the books so I don't have to wait for the next one. Now that the author passed away I hope that whoever rewrites this or finish this will keep the way he wrote the story. I will still continue to buy hopefully not being disappointed.

i love this book as mutch as the 2 first ones, good nerration. cant wait for the next one

Another great performance by Mark Boyett

I really like this story line. This series can go a lot of places good job! However there are some inaccuracies I cannot get over. Paleontologist study dinosaurs and ancient humans not archaeologists. It irritated me each time I heard it. There were others also but that was the most glaring.

Great book

Very good third book in this excellent series. Looking forward to listening to the next one!

Engaging Story, excellent reader

I really appreciate the series, Stellar Heritage, by Bob Mauldin.
This 3rd book in the series, Far Horizons, does not disappoint by continuing with well written characters, alien interactions, and battle scenes. Science fiction, but a great,"What if?" entertainment.

The adventure continues

Well the builders have arrived, but they are not what was expected. They are fighting the same aliens that have attacked earth, and have come to return the rescued members. They also come asking for help. Kitty goes out to visit , and hopefully sign a joint defense pack.

I Love it

Just move your cursor to each category and check I love it. For the last few days my IPOD has been in constant use. Mauldin has created a unique series that has a little bit of everything. A story of love, discovery, innovation, Aliens (You can picture their appearance), diplomacy (with a little subterfuge near the surface) and space battles involving strategy. You can hear the explosions in you head but not on the audio.

After completing this volume I just can not wait for book number four. If you are in for a Penney with book one you will be in for lots of dollars with this series. Mark Boyett bring it all to life so add the series to your collection.
