Maybe I am over it

So here’s the thing. The book is well written but the storyline is hella annoying. I kind of wish Ward would finish the series. Like she had to save the dog!! SMH he could have gotten a new dog and I am sick of lash too

Well…

I have been waiting years it seems for Lassiter’s story. I don’t feel like I know him at all. I expected to understand Lassiter more and his backstory and there was just nothing there. I’m just disappointed in so many ways and as for the end… well…

It seems a set up for a new generation . I’m not sure I will go along for that ride.

A bit disappointing

while others are raving, I find myself disappointed. Lassiter was the least himself in this and Rhaven left much to be desired as well. Yhe misunderstandings were predictable and left me feeling they both were only a shadow of what they should have been.

however what really annoys me and WARNING: SPOILER ALERT - Ward clearly only used this story as a way to jump us ahead in time. She obviously is done with the characters to date and wanted to get to the kids' stories, so she used the "death" of a much loved character to accomplish it. I dont like having my emotions so manipulated for such a purpose. Even tho I already suspected where it was going. I'm undecided if I will continue with this series. I think perhaps Ward has been tackling too many story lines and the writing has gotten weaker for the main story due to it. I think I'm tapping out now.

That said, Jim Fragione as always is superb in narration. which is the only reason I didn't give this a 2 star rating.

Lackluster

Unpopular opinion: I feel like this series has run its course. This book (and the last several) have left me wanting, like it’s just about selling books and not about the characters’ journeys. I keep thinking that the next one will be better, only to be disappointed.

The Warden Strikes Again!

Although I had been looking forward to Lassiter's story I have say I was a little disappointed in this book. I loved Lassiter and Ravyn's finally getting their HEA my disappointed came that there was too much Lash and Devina and not enough of the Brothers. I think I. the earlier books seeing all of the interactions withe the Brothers and their shellans is what made the stories so special. I didn't have a problem with the time jump but what happened to Phurys story regarding Agony? not saying I didn't enjoy this but would have like more of the Brotherhood. This is a BDB book. As always Jim's performance was spot on and amazing!!

Fell short

This felt as a rush to an end. The book leaves so many questions. The 30+years in the future,? The serious has too many unfinished spinoff storylines for the author to jump decades I the future. I lucked upon this series a few years back. I've enjoyed every read until now. it just left me feeling.... *shrug* It left me feeling not much at the end of it.

I can’t decide if I loved or hated it

The storyline went in so many directions that it was hard to get a read on the feels for this book. I was almost disconnected from getting emotionally invested until the wrench at the end and even though it had a silver lining the overall down turn took away my happiness of the final
reunion. I also had a hard time feeling the connection between Raven and Lassiter. They seemed thrown together more than most couples before them. Plus a lot of the side stories seemed thrown in and easily dismissed like the angels for example. Usually the side stories get me really interested and foreshadow new potential books. These kinda fell flat except for maybe Nate. Overall, I love the BDB series. This book made me return to Caldwell and laugh at Golden Girl references but, as I’ve said I’m really torn on if I liked this book. Hopefully, the 33 and 1/2 years is never written about and any new books pick up from the next generation already grown. I don’t know if i could handle anything in the what I’ll call the “dark period.”

Dark days not sure how I feel

This book was dark, the jump in time took soooooo much time away. I did not like it, so much of the story just taken away. Not sure where this is going but I have a knot in my stomach, just did not like this; not at all. Love Jim Frangione I think I will wait for the reviews before I get the next book, waiting another year for the next book "WOW". Love BDB but not sure where this is going and Lash, I'm just over him.

Where was Lassiter...

I've read the other reviews and I agree with most of them with 3 stars or less. My biggest complaint is... where is the Lassiter we've all come to know and love? The humor, the sarcastic bickering, the one liners. None of that was in this book. If the title wasn't Lassiter, I wouldn't have known it was about him, his personality was missing.
