Publisher's summary

The first time I meet Maliki Bridges, I'm 18, and he kicks me out of his bar. Two years later, he does it again.

He's the town's hottest bartender. He thinks I'm a spoiled rich girl. I think he has a stick up his ass.

Once I'm old enough to drink, we become friends. Nothing more...

Until we become roommates. It's a bad idea, moving in with him, but any opportunity I get to be around him I'll take. Consequences be damned.

Contains mature themes.

My FAVORITE Of The Series So Far . . .

YES!! 👏🏻 I LOVED this story WAY better than any of the others!! (I honestly don’t know why this book has so many bad reviews; I freaking LOVED it! 😍) I LOVED Sierra (the female lead) & Maliki (the male lead) SO much!! (I actually knew of Maliki & Sierra from reading the Twisted Fox series 1st—I know, I did it kinda backwards—& as a result, was REALLY looking forward to their story SO much!!) And I was NOT disappointed AT ALL!! It’s SO refreshing when we get a romance hero that’s NOT a jerk at first (I don’t know, I just never really been into the enemies-to-lovers trope that much—UNLESS it’s REALLY well done—and always liked the friends-to-lovers trope WAY better!) I LOVED their flirty, little banter back & forth with each other in the beginning when Maliki caught Sierra sneaking underage into his bar (she was 18–a legal adult—she wasn’t like a 15- or 16-year-old high school kid at the beginning, don’t worry 😉)!! You could FEEL their chemistry at the VERY BEGINNING!! I LOVED that!! Then, as time went on, they became friends 1st BEFORE they got together! I loved that, too! The only thing I didn’t quite like was when Maliki found out he had a daughter (again, I knew he had a daughter from reading Twisted Fox 1st, but didn’t quite know the exact circumstances as to who was the mother & everything), he suddenly turned into a completely idiot, out-right LYING to Sierra about where he was & who he was really with—to the point that Sierra thought he was cheating on her!! I was like, “Really, dude, you already KNEW that she had trust issues & now she KNOWS you’re lying to her!! Just tell her, man! She isn’t gonna leave you just because you have a daughter; she isn’t that type of person!” Another thing that I didn’t like is how often Maliki brought up her age to her face when they finally got together. I was like, “C’mon, man! You KNEW she was younger than you before you started this thing with her! Quite throwing it in her face like that! She can’t change her age & you know it!” I was really reminded of Taylor’s “All Too Well (10-Minute Version)” (I’m a MAJOR Swiftie) whenever he brought up her age like he did!! I was totally on Sierra‘s side in their little breakup; Maliki was acting like a complete jerk. Mainly for this reason, it went down from a 5-star book to like a 4.8 or a 4.9 for me. But he DID apologize in the end & he DID sound sincere in his apology, so . . . Another thing I wished we (the reader) got was Maliki’s P.O.V. in the beginning; we just got Sierra’s P.O.V. in the beginning, and I wished we just knew what Maliki 1st thought the 1st time she snuck into his bar, too, for example. The only character that really got on my nerves was Jessa (Maliki’s daughter’s mom). I don’t know what her deal is . . . It’s like, “Okay, c’mon, I get that you wanna be a family with this guy (Maliki), but he’s CLEARLY not interested in that!! Just stop!!” Other than that, though, it was a really fun, nice read for me & now I’m looking really forward to Book 6: Rex & Carolina‘s story!! (And, P.S.: You DO get a little of annoying Willow in this story, but it’s at the very end and, surprisingly, she isn’t so annoying! Plus, it IS VERY little, so that helps, too . . . ) 👍🏻😍😊

I could not even finish

I have never listened to a book where I wanted the main characters to not end up together. This was not worth buying.

5 hilariously funny stars!!!

Just Roommates is a slow burn, friends to lovers romance with a side of age gap. Maliki and Sierra have chemistry from the start, even when he was calling her “Jailbait”. Their banter made me want this book to never end.

Sierra is a rebel at heart. Her dad is Blue Beech’s Mayor, her brother, Kyle (Just Neighbors), is a police officer. Yet, here she is sneaking in bars and crushing on Blue Beech’s most eligible bachelor. When she is finally old enough to drink, her and Maliki become friends. He is the person she seeks out whenever life isn’t being kind. It can’t hurt to be roommates, right?

Maliki is just as dreamy as the book cover 🤤. He has no desire to be tied down. Many women have tried and failed. I think he is surprised by his friendship with Sierra. Even more surprised when he offers her a place to stay. They are just friends, what could go wrong?

There are several plot twists, and the biggest one threatens their relationship. Their love is built on friendship, will it stand the rest of time?

Just Roommates can be read as stand alone. ✌🏻

Samantha Cook and Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job narrating and bringing Maliki and Sierra to life!

Huge potential for storyline, Weak, limp MFC ruins

Good read story wise, but the constant journey with little actually sparked wore me out a bit. Felt like a lot of they should be together, like their lives intertwined but there wasn't enough explanation as to why they weren't - and if they weren't then why would this even still be happening??

That being said, second half of book went into fast forward, the heat was good, although no where near detailed enough after all that annoying will they wont they nonsense.

Malaki was fab, brooding, alpha but not with any he loves be they male / female friend or family and I was on his side from the beginning. While I consistently struggled to even like Sierra, she just makes me want to scream, shake and possibly murder her to save Malaki from her bull****.. and I don't think that was the author's intention. I just cannot find anything likeable, or empathise in any way with Sierra's actions or more like lack of actions. Weak willed, limp noodle... eurgh. Hence the three stars. Just loathed the MFC. Such potential but story line ruined but her personality.

Wow

This was an awesome read. My mind was screaming to tell her to not go through with the wedding. But then everything fell into place. Until he wouldn’t tell her about Molly, then again screaming in my head to him to tell her. But it all worked out in the end, just loved it.
Narration was awesome too.
