This story hurts

I've only had a few dark romances that have really tested the threshold of "how dark is too dark" for my personal comfort level. This really tests that boundary. The story is so painful it hurts, the narration is fantastic. I wish that some of the characters used contractions in their speech. But overall, it just really spun me topsy turvy and hurt my heart an brain. If you want something so dark it hurts, this is for you.

Dark and Toxic Relationship!

This is the second book in the Quarantine series, a Dark Romance. You have to listen to this series in order. This audiobook includes a short novella told from Reid's POV. This novella is intense, emotional, and angsty. Isolation is set during the pandemic. The storyline is slow paced, dark, intricate, and intense, filled with drama, and toxic relationship. Milo, Raven and Reed are complex characters. I am looking forward to listening to Essential, the next and last book in the series. Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel did a great job with the narration. #AudiobookObsession

Isolation

This is the second book in the Quarantine series. It also consists of a small novella told from Reed's POV. At times I understood Mylo's crazed obsession for Raven. At times I didn't understand her reactions. I think that their relationship is beyond confusing and toxic. The way book 2 ended I'm dying to know what will happen in the future. What will come of Mylo, Raven, and Reed? Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel did a great job narrating.

Dark Romance

Isolation by Drethi Anis is a dark romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel. This is the second book in the Quarantine series.

The book does come with a warning: "This is a DARK romance, that contains triggers, including non-consent and dubious consent scenes, outbreak, and mental health issues. Some readers might find the subject matter offensive."

I am really liking how this series is set up. The first book was Raven and Milo's past where book two is present day and starts right where book one ended. I really enjoyed the added Novella Desolate that is part of the audiobook that gives Reid's points of view.

The best way I can describe the relationship between Raven and Milo is messy and toxic. Their story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. I love getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brings the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the final book in the series Essential to get the rest of their story.

Jill and Jim did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you like dark romances, forbidden romances, or friends to lovers to enemies romances.

GAH!

This is the second book I've read/listened to by Drethi Anis. Again, do NOT ignore the warning! Of course by now you've listened to book one and understand why.

This audiobook is actually two books. Desolate is included at the beginning of this audiobook and is a novella. It is book 1.5 in the series. Isolation is book 2.

Desolate Chapters 1 -3 are Reid's POS. Chapter 4 is half Milo's POV and is a scene from book one. If the narrator had changed the character's voice, it may have been easier to switch gears from one brother to another and been less confusing. I had to go back to the beginning of chapter 4 a couple times to get it straight. Reid's POV picked back up after that short segment and Desolate Chapter 10 picks up where book 1 left off.

I do NOT understand the behavior of Milo or Reid towards Raven in this novella. Reid is *almost* as bad. Yelling does not make a heart grow fonder. Unbelievable. Raven remains messed up.

Unfortunately, do not like the narrators voice for Asher in this section.

Going into Isolation, book two. The hero is still no hero. Sigh. I was so hopeful that Milo and Raven would be heading in the right direction for a sane relationship. It seemed like it was going to go there, but then shifted. Ugh. At least Milo and Raven acknowledged the rape in this book. It's not glossed over and the saves the book for me!!

I continue to enjoy the new to me narrators. At the beginning, the duet narration was awkward once again. It did get better though. These two put real emotions into the performances. I got lost in the audio. Well done!

I look forward to the next audiobook. I really want to like Milo and Raven!

Intense Dark Romance!

Isolation is a brilliantly written dark romance and an excellent second instalment to the Quarantine Series. In Isolation, the layers of Milo's personality continue to peel away, and I loved getting to know him. He is a fascinating character, magnetic, complex, and complicated. There are two different versions of him, the dark/psycho version of the past and the flawed but lighter one of the present. He is a beautiful conundrum; obsessive, possessive, controlling, and far from societal norms. The dynamic and connection between Milo and Raven is intense, passionate, driven by desire, obsession, anger, and a torrent of intricate feelings. Their journey continues to be gripping, raw, explosive, emotional, and dark; I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel continue to do a terrific job bringing the cast and story to life. They captured the nuances of the Raven and Milo's personalities, complicated emotions, and fiery chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed their performance and storytelling. Isolation is an excellent followup to Quarantined; it's a well-written and cleverly plotted story with fascinating characters, one I'm highly recommending.

Emotionally charged

Raven returns to the Sinclair home and is forced to be in close quarters with her greatest tormentor who is also the one to calm her down, Milo. So many emotions are depicted in this book. Looking forward to the next one. A great story so well performed bringing it to life so vividly.

What’s going on?

My heart cannot take any more. The drama, the situations, the characters, they just kept me enthralled and addicted to hear the rest. They have gone through so much, and my heart does not understand they are fictional characters.

Intense listen!

This audiobook is just as intense as the first book. These characters have been through so much together. We get more of the past and present views. The entire family is now thrown into the mix causing even more tension and drama. This book is hard to put down. You just have to know what is going to happen next. There are just so many issues that are popping up. I just don’t know what is in store for this couple.

The Present!

Starting out with Reid’s point of view, we are treated to a version of what was happening from a completely different perspective. The feelings Reid held back for his entire life truly messed with his mind. The question will always remain what would have happened if he actually came forth and told Raven how he felt before things changed with Milo. Extremely interesting.

Then we start the present. From a covid home, where everyone is now back and living together, Milo is up to his old self. Raven is definitely his trigger, and he will do whatever he has to, making sure everyone knows. Raven has definitely changed since her time away, but her feelings for Milo are still alive in full force. Will she revert backwards to her old self, or will her maturity kick in, and their relationship be different? And the crazy parents, the needs of Reid and Mia and this pandemic all play a part in the story. It’s dark, it’s addicting, and the ending will leave you wanting the third book to see where I all end!

Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel continue their narration of this series. All the feels, all the baggage and incredible passion is brought alive by this team. They are pulling us in and keeping us captivated.
