This book tries too hard

This book has too many characters to keep straight. I spent half of the time trying to remember how one character tied into the next. I feel like the author tried too hard to keep you on your toes, and therefore there are too many underdeveloped and purposefully vague (and therefore unnecessary) characters.

So many twists and then the last sentence....OMG!

This is a must read!!! There are so many things going on in this book, it keeps you guessing. I screamed out at the end of the book. I can’t believe it, I honestly had no idea how it would end. If I had noticed how long I had left before the book would end, maybe, just maybe I would have guessed the ending. Get lost in the stories and enjoy!

I love an audible book that has multiple people speaking for major characters in the book.
Very surprised till the very end.

Too many characters and unsatisfying ending

I found it difficult to keep up with all of the characters. The story is told from several different points of view so that makes it even more difficult to keep up with everyone. The ending was a bit unsatisfying as well. After so many theories when you finally find out what happens your just left with that information and no aftermath. The performances in this audio book were excellent though!

Not compelling enough.

I bought this audiobook after purchasing and thoroughly enjoying The Girl on the Train by the same author. I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl on the Train. It was a concise, well thought out storyline, it had appropriate twists, I can never figure out "who done it" before the end of the book anyway. The readers who read The Girl on the Train did an amazing job--I enjoyed it so much so I purchased Into The Water having read some reviews that were somewhat disappointing, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.
I found this book to be somewhat interesting. I came away feeling like I wish there had been more of a supernatural angle. I also felt that there were too many points of view, and though each reader was a separate person, I still had some confusion trying to figure out whose point of view I was listening to. Also by 3/4 of the way through the book I didn't care what happened anymore. So I was disappointed in that. I did finish the book to the end and the ending was good, but getting there was somewhat tedious. I understand that it's hard to follow up a book that is a big hit with something successful, and I will continue to purchase and read Paula Hawkins in the future.

A lot of the reviews say this book was too confusing because of all the different narrators. I like the author, and Imogen Church is my favorite female narrator on audible, so I decided to listen and find out for myself. It's true. There are far too many narrators. The story was interesting enough to keep me listening to the full book. When I hate a book, I immediately stop wasting my time. So the fact that I finished it says something.

But the multiple narration was frustrating and I can't say I understand the point of it. Why didn't the author just use 2 or 3 points of view? There were so many characters to keep up with and the narration was mixed with first person and third person. It was just too complicated. At the 3 and 5 hour marks I would still be thinking, "Wait... who is this narrator again? What's their relationship to the story?" Really frustrating and not a good thing at all.

I like Paula Hawkins and I'll still listen to future books by her. Not every novel can be a winner.

Great performance. Decent story

Story started out great but slowed overtime and became a little predictable. Performances were wonderful though!
