Publisher's summary

"My name is Steve Lewis.

I know this because it's one of the few things I remember.

I have a wife, a son, and I run a successful business.

I know this because that's what they tell me.

I remember things that aren't true.

I forget things that are.

I see things and people that aren't real.

You see, I have brain damage

...and that's the only rational explanation for things like this."

Blew me away

What a great book. It's rare when you get a hold of a book that makes you hit the "30 seconds back button" when someone else's phone rings because you don't want to miss even 3 seconds of precious listening time. This is one of those books.

I treasured every second, and unlike others, I was hooked from the start. I love books that are written in the first person, and I also liked going into this book knowing NOTHING. Please be careful not to know too much about this book before you read it. Some reviews here contain spoilers but didn't bother mentioning as much.

I will only tell you that it's a story about a guy who gets in an accident and wakes up to a life that's not familiar to him. Some memories come back to him, but other things are just Twilight Zone weird. And that's what makes it such a darned good book. It's a mystery that you have to figure out. And like others, I had several theories (that I won't share) about what could be going on, and you will have your own theories, too.

This is a first-person mystery of the first order. I can't recommend it highly enough. The narrator Timothy McKean did a great job convincing me when he was in pain, when he was confused, and when he was happy. Heads up: some brief graphic sex (written in a classy way, however), and language that fits the moment and if anything, I could have preferred a bit more, but then again, I tend to be a bit foul-mouthed myself in real life, so I like when I run into book characters who remind me of myself.

Even though I got this book at no cost in exchange for this honest review, I can't wait for Daniel Fox to write again because this guy has talent, and he writes the kind of stories I love.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
