Publisher's Summary
Swept away from Louisiana bayou country as a child, Miranda Miller is a woman without a past. She has a husband and child of her own and a fulfilling job in a Manhattan museum, but she also has questions - about the tragedy that cut her off from family and caused her to be sent away and about those first five years of her life, which were erased from her memory entirely.
Summoned to the bedside of Willy Pedreaux, the old caretaker of her grandparents' antebellum estate, Miranda goes back to Louisiana at last, hoping to learn the truths of her past and receive her rightful inheritance. But Willy's premature death plunges Miranda into a nightmare of buried secrets, priceless treasure, and unknown enemies.
Follow one woman's search through the hidden rooms of a bayou mansion, the enigmatic snares of an ancient myth, and the all-consuming quest for a heart open enough for love - and for God.
"Intricately plotted and exquisitely detailed, Clark's latest novel is fantastic. There's a gothic feel throughout, and the outcome of the mystery is fascinating.... Mystery lovers should move this to the top of their purchase lists." (RT Book Reviews)

Excellent story!
This is a VERY interesting story with many twists and turns and I really enjoyed it overall, but one drawback in the story was a few short sentences about the characters’ lack of modesty twice in front of a man who was not her husband and his response, and both were COMPLETELY unnecessary and out of line and should have been left out. It seems authors feel pressured to add a bit of raunchy to sell a book. How sad! This is listed in Christian mystery and as such this type of writing has no place in these book. Outside of that little part the book was excellent!

Mesmerizing Christian novel
Mystery, romance, bit of Cajun history, Bit of Christian inspiration - this book has it all. Kept me spellbound all the way through, couldn’t wait to get back to it, and listen to more chapters. Clean language, true to life dramas, lots of intrigue - just a perfectly written novel that is perfectly narrated with lots of good inflection for the different voices. So glad I chose this book and hope to find another one just as great. No complaints at all and don’t understand why anyone would criticize anything about this intriguing novel woven around “Evangeline.”

Not bad, not great.
It was very slow until chapter 25- I almost gave up on it, luckily it picks and gets interesting towards the later end. You could probably skip through or skim through much if it and still get the jist of it. The narrator must have felt the bore of the first 2/3rds of the book as well because there were many times that it sounded more read-y and less narrated. I started guessing the mystery before it was revealed. I would say it's a decent book. Not bad, not great.

An easy listen
An easy listen that doesn’t give away the ending too quickly. Some religious overtones that seemed out of place but they were a small enough part of the book that it didn’t detract from the story.
