Publisher's Summary

From USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean comes a suspenseful, emotionally charged novel that explores the secrets and hidden truths within a seemingly perfect marriage.

Abbie MacIntyre is living the dream in the picturesque Nova Scotia town she calls home. She is a successful surgeon, is married to a handsome cardiologist, and has a model teenage son who is only months away from going off to college.

But then one fateful night, everything changes. When a drunk driver hits her car, Abbie is rushed to the hospital. She survives, but the accident forces unimaginable secrets out into the open and plagues Abbie with nightmares so vivid that she starts to question her grip on reality. Her perfect life begins to crack, and those cracks threaten to shatter her world completely.

The search for answers will test her strength in every way—as a wife, a career woman, and a mother—but it may also open the door for Abbie to move forward, beyond anger and heartbreak, to find out what she is truly made of. In learning to heal and trust again, she may just find new hope in the spaces left behind.

This book started out great! I was in awe of the beginning, there was so much going on and lots of shocks but then it slowed down and I feel like it lost momentum. Sadly the second half of this book didn't live up to the first part for me. I was glad it had a happy ending but wished it had more in the middle.

The narration was very good.

4 🌟

Well written story about loss and redemption. As a talented surgeon recovers from the loss of her husband in a head on accident; she struggles to accept tragic results in her own life and career as she deals with with the aftermath of the fatal accident.
Kudos to the narrator, Coleen Marlo, for doing a superb job.

Glad I stuck this one out

I don’t want to give the entire book away because it actually has some good twists and turns throughout, but I will say that I almost returned the book half way without finishing. Idk if it was the narrators slow dramatic voice or that I just didn’t enjoy the idea that the wife (main character whom the entire book surrounds) seemed so obsessed with her life being so picture perfect. Idk. Maybe I’m being too harsh. In the end I’m glad I finished it and felt character growth throughout and it wrapped up nicely.

A perfect world after tragedy

If only you were a perfect person, doing and saying all the right things. Faced with unbelievable tragedy, you will know just what to do. Aspects of this story line were interesting but characters unreal.

Soooooo Canadian!

I will admit the story was intriguing... I enjoyed it a lot... but it was also frustrating! Some jacked up stuff happens to the main character and there's not one curse word or considerable freak out! I felt I needed to scream for catharsis after some parts! In conclusion, the book is good but expect a lot of scoffing by how easily things are taken in stride by like... everyone! Cliche sweet Canadians.
