Publisher's Summary

The founder of the popular fair trade jewelry brand Noonday Collection shares her story of starting the rapid-growing business that impacts over 4,400 artisans in vulnerable communities across the globe and invites listeners on a journey of transformation, challenging them to trade their comfort zones for a life of impact and adventure.

In 2015, Inc. magazine recognized Noonday Collection as one of the fastest-growing companies in America. Years earlier, as Jessica Honegger stood at a pawn-shop counter in Austin, Texas, and handed over her grandmother's gold jewelry, her goal was personal: to fund the adoption of her Rwandan son, Jack, by selling artisan-made jewelry.

This first step launched an unexpected side-hustle that would grow into Noonday Collection. She embarked on this new journey and teamed up with her first artisan partner, Jalia, a Ugandan jewelry maker. She saw the meaningful impact Noonday brought to Jalia's community and knew it was the right move.

Fear crept into Jessica's heart as she realized her success, or failure, meant the same for Jalia. Refusing to let fear hinder her goals, Jessica found the necessary (if imperfect) courage she needed along the way - the courage to leave comfort and embrace a life of risk and impact.

In Imperfect Courage, Jessica invites you to draw a circle of compassion around yourself and leads you through soul-searching aimed at setting you free from shame. Next, she challenges you to come together, risking all for each other and commit to building a culture of collaboration. Finally, Jessica calls on you to broaden your circles of compassion to embrace the entire globe - and to bring that cultivation of imperfect courage to a world that deeply needs you.

Critic Reviews

“Jessica is such an incredible example of what a leader in business should be. Not only because she’s had the courage to push herself to create a company from the ground up, but because she made her way down the road to success and then turned around and held a lantern up to light the way for the rest of us. This is a must-read for anyone who’s chasing big dreams on a road that feels unsteady!” (Rachel Hollis, New York Times best-selling author of Girl, Wash Your Face)

“Pick your reason to read this book: you care about the world, you are an entrepreneur, you love fashion, you love women, you have big ideas, you have a global mind-set, you are a builder, a dreamer, a visionary, a Texan (there is plenty of Texas in Jessica’s story). Imperfect Courage is fuel for all of these. It is as generous and adventurous as Jessica, who is the greatest leader, creator, and friend I’ve ever known.” (Jen Hatmaker, New York Times best-selling author of Of Mess and Moxie and host of the For the Love podcast)

“Jessica Honegger has written a must-read account of how the work of justice goes hand in hand with women’s empowerment. And it all starts with steps of imperfect courage.” (Melissa Russell, chief advancement officer for International Justice Mission)

Great Listen!

I received an advance reader copy and was very pleasantly surprised by this one! Jessica is the founder of noonday, a fair trade jewelry company. The book encompasses stories of her road to success along with motivation for the reader to achieve his or her goals of making an impact in the world as well. Her second section covers a lot of info that I feel Brene Brown covers better/more in depth, but I loved all her stories about building her business and felt the third and final section was the strongest. Her audio presentation is great and if you like it, you should check out her podcast, going scared! Definitely recommend.

not impressed

it felt like a lot of time was spent by the author making very elaborate excuses for her life decisions and trying to clear up misunderstandings. I don't believe people need to make excuses or explanations for their actions or decisions, if people misinterpret intent, that's their problem. I just could not get into this, I couldn't tell you what the point of the book was supposed to be. very unmemorable. bummed I wasted a credit on it!

Inspirational Grit

Only paused for quick breaks. I too have a similar vision but have spent the last couple of years self sabotaging, which has delayed the action of my journey. Jessica's compassion, empathy, and sincerity caused a stirring within my soul. The invitation has been accepted, and I thank her and all of the women that have graciously agreed to share their stories throughout the book. True inspirational grit for collaboration to improve the quality of lives.

Genuine and heartfelt

Hearing Jessica read her own story and being able to hear her voice tremble with emotion at times really underlined the message of this book. I read the book in print, and listened to it here afterwards. I am so glad I did. ❤️❤️
