Publisher's summary

Nothing compares to the physical chemistry between an immortal and his life mate - or to the spellbinding thrills in a new Argeneau novel by New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands....

A simple promise to protect her friend’s infant son has turned Allie Chambers’ existence upside down. Caring for - and feeding - an orphaned vampire baby has been tricky enough. But as little Liam grows, so does his appetite. He needs more blood than she can personally supply. And when her attempts to steal from a blood bank go awry, Allie wakes up surrounded by doctors, cops...and the gorgeous, mesmerizing Magnus, who she can neither trust nor resist.

Magnus never expected to find his life mate breaking into a blood bank. Clearly, Allie is already entwined with his world - in deeper, more dangerous ways than she realizes. A band of vicious rogue immortals is in pursuit, and Magnus’ first task is to keep her safe. His second: to awaken her to mind-blowing pleasure, and hope she’ll accept the life, and the passion, that only he can offer.

Very little romance

I got this because of the reviews. There was very little romance and a lot of descriptive writing. The introduction of previous characters was a little much as well, I found myself wondering how it all helped the story and it didn't really, very poor development and weak characters. What made me give up on this however is the fact that (spoiler alert) when they finally had their first time together it was spent talking and trying to keep him erect, there was nothing romantic or steamy about the scene in my opinion. Very disappointing and a total waste of credit. I gave up with 2 hours left.

Really enjoyable story :D

4-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I liked both Allie and Magnus and enjoyed their story. I did finished reading this the other day and didn't get a chance to review it right away (and I'm a little short on time now) so this might be a bit briefer than most of my reviews.

Allie is a web designer that gave up her life to raise the child of a friend who died. The catch is, the friend was a vampire and her child is also a vampire (at least that's what Allie thinks they are) and Allie is having to feed her adopted son with her own blood and it's getting to the point that she can't go on. In desperation, she gets a job and a blood bank to steal some blood. But then she passes out from her weakness in the middle of the job.

Magnus is an Immortal, a type of vampire originating in Atlantis that's made by the use of nanobots. He works as an enforcer, a warrior that takes out the rogues of their kind that prey on humans. Magnus is a good guy and has been waiting to find his life-mate for a very long time.

Magnus and Allie's beginning is a bit difficult because of a couple reasons. First, the "vampires" (aka rogues) that her friend escaped from are still after Allie and her son and she thinks anyone with glowing eyes are bad. Second, Allie's background makes her reluctant to get into a relationship (I didn't totally buy that part but ok). Because of these issues, Allie and Magnus' start is more planned and less spontaneous than normal. But as with all the books in this series, the nanobots are right and Allie and Magnus are made for each other so by the end, they're totally gone for each other and planning out their HEA together.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable story. I liked Allie, even if I wasn't completely sold on her reasoning at times. Magnus was a good guy and good hero and I liked him. Overall, this was a very good story with likable character and it was engaging so I'd recommend it. :)

Very wordy

Unfortunately I paused to listen Bones and Kat vampire series and associated side stories in between Argenuae series and the Jeanine Frost series are much better, well written not so much hearing ppl thoughts and overly describing the scene. There is Too much expose in Lynsay books to me obviously trying to make the story arbitrary longer than it really is. And the same is true for this one. After saying that i still like the process of finding the life mate but I always feel the enforcer are sloppy and in thus one the same thing happens. Also very annoying discussion trying to tell Allie what immortals are by just throwing out info and leaving it up for her to draw the conclusion. But I still love the couple.

Needed a different narrator

This was my first Lindsay Sands book. The story was good but the climactic ending seemed too short.

The narrator wasn’t a good fit for this book. The book is chock full of beautiful, sexy, muscled men. But it was hard to imagine with the voices because the narrator did not have the range of voices to fit them. Also, most of the men were from ancient times. It was quite hard to imagine a sexy Viking man when he was given a Brooklyn accent. Then in the middle of the book the Brooklyn accent stopped and all of the men just sounded hoarse. And then the Brooklyn accent picked up again towards the end. It felt like the male voices were forced and the narrator wasn’t really into the book. She was just reading it, not “feeling” it. I just read Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series narrated by Kirsten Potter. Kirsten has an excellent range of voices and can make you really feel the men’s sexiness.

My Hero

I loved the whole book. There was the right amount of action and love sections. The hero (Magnus) and heroine (Ally) were both great characters. If you love any of Lynsey Sands books you will love this book also.

One of my favorites

I have a lot of favorites in this series but Ally and Magnus are one of my favorite couples. I love their story as well as little Liam. At some point I expect to read his story if finding a life mate!

SHE HAD TO STEAL BLOOD FOR THE CHILD

I adore The Argeneau Immortals, not just how loving & strong, supportive they are but then how bashful the men become when it comes to finding out that they've met their Lifemate & how difficult they find trying to explain who & what they are & how they live.
Here we have mortal Allie who took on to take care of Liam, the Son of her friend who escaped from the Rogue Immortal who kept Basha & made her a Rogue for a good few decades. & changed & her husband Steven, but she was able to escape when she was pregnant & met Allie, but she gave Allie Liam to keep him safe & care for which she was doing even when she had to keep moving from place to place to keep them safe when the rogues find them, but its not until there's a report that someone was trying to steal some bagged blood that Allie & Immortal Mangus whose been requested to go to Canada to help his Lifemate.
Things move fast in this episode due to Allie knowing about Immortals already she only needs to learn the truth about things & then about Lifemates, which surprises her, as we see how they actually get together & what happens in their first time together 😘😂

Great book to one of my favourite series

If you love Argeneau Vampires then this is a must read.
Series is changing enough to keep me reading and wanting more.
Normally a series this long loses something and becomes a drag , but Lynsay Sands has developed it wonderfully that we meet old characters and new with great interesting new storylines.

Just wonderful

I have read all the books in this series so far and just love every single one.
Each has its own story line and can be read independently. However, the author has interwoven the lives of her characters so well the series has a life of its own.
Totally outstanding!!!
The reader has interpreted the stories and makes the listening entertaining. Just love the repoire between the characters.
