Worth the credit but ...

skipping through the centuries has humankind "stuck in time". The book provides a good deal of backstory on most of the significant species along with their worldviews; humankind, as represented by the crew of the UES Interchange in 3017, are essentially the same as back in 2100s. Their cultural progress is confined to what they've experienced with other species, each for only a short period of time. They are, quite literally, anachronisms to whatever human colony they may eventually encounter. This makes them, the MCs of the series, less interesting. Chapter 52 actually highlights this phenomenon fairly well but with a somewhat different take on it.

I'm unsure if I'll continue the series?

Mark Boyett's performance is top-tier, as expected.

Wow, Wow and Wow!

Appreciate so much the resolution of the cliffhanger from the last book but then the story takes off with multiple plot developments that set us up for Part 4. I admit to binging in two days but now I get to listen again to see if I missed anything! Scott and Mark, one of my favorite duos ❤️

Another amazing book

I continue to love this series.

Slight spoiler, Henry Morgan is notably absent at the beginning of the book, but you figure out why soon enough. The series continues to keep me very happy and scratch that Science fiction itch for sure!

The story world grows and improves

This series felt, for a long time, like a hack of the Bobiverse, and this part of the series fortunately escapes that. Somewhere between Honor Harrington and the Bobiverse world with more than a pinch of the Star Wars mythos blended in, this attempts to get to space opera level, but lacks the aria moments that make that possible. Sometimes preachy, the good vs evil/light vs dark hinted at lacks the tactile touch of the Force, the battle scenes lack the solidity and detail of an Honorverse book, and the creative progress and learning of beings whose lifespans last millennia fails to materialize at all. But this still is a good, light read.

Frantic burn to surprising reveals, and continued conflicts

This review, covering books 5 & 6 which make up Part 3 of the series (yeah, I know, it's awkward) mirrors my previous feelings about this story, it's characters, the setting, and narration. In short, it's fantastic from all angles. Each chapter focuses on POV of one character, increasing our connections to their thoughts and actions. An enormous amount of time is passing for some, and being fully experienced by others, due to the stasis shifts. The starship undergoes significant realizations. Mark Boyette adds even more fresh voices to his already talented narration abilities. Will humanity finally be saved? [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.0x.]
