*** DUET NARRATED ***

I’ve never sought a savior, especially not a billionaire. But when a charming, single dad returns to my small town, memories stir of our shared past and our future feels increasingly intertwined.

As the town's new Doctor, Hudson Hamilton is hard to ignore. Not only is he now in charge of my moms medical needs, but he is also best friends with my boss.

His good looks and excellent bedside manner do little to tame the heat that swirls. But fantasizing never served me well and my life is chaotic, with one hurdle after another. No time to date, no time to daydream.

But he bonds with my mom, I bond with his son, and despite my hesitation, his caring ways start to break down my walls. But just like everything in my life, it doesn’t come easy. Sinister things are at play. Danger is lurking and it is coming from those closest to us.

SIR! this is definitely NSFW. There were moments I was a little convinced this wasn't an audiobook and I was actually hearing the real thing. Patrick Zeller...wow. the breathing, the moaning, the finishing... both narrators were great but Patrick really brought it to the next level. Tiffanypreads on Instagram was promoting this book but couldn't play the audio because she was worried it would get demonitized but couldn't recommend this book enough. she was correct. this was better than Tanner, which was also a great story. no 3rd act breakup. trigger warning if you have a history of SA or cancer. the emotion in this book was so strong. I love these characters. this book was sweet, emotional, HOT! and so worth the credit. all the stars!

THE ACTING!!!!

The voice actors were on the dot and the performance was outstanding, the story was entreating and sweet but I felt the FMC lacked something…I didn’t completely engage with her character.

Getting into Lacey and Hudson’s story took some time, but it picks up. When you finally hear about Lacey’s past, you understand her levels of PTSD and panic attacks. She’s also the primary caregiver for her mother, who is going through cancer. Hudson is a single dad, doctor, and billionaire who falls for Lacey and helps her heal.

Patrick Zeller... sir! This audiobook needs to come with a warning label, because hotɗamn! Patrick Zeller and Amanda Stribling delivered on everything. All the feelings and emotions, all the tension, all the səxy times... absolutely fantastic!

I really enjoyed that chemistry between Hudson and Lacy. I liked all the back-and-forth between them and how their start felt a little like a cat and mouse game, but not quite. And when Lacy finally gave in, it was absolutely explosive.

I also really enjoyed Lacy's relationship with Harvey and how sweet they were together. Actually, Lacy's relationship with everyone. She is just this sweet small town girl that everybody likes. Totally cliche, but also super fun, because you can see all the different dynamics and relationships that she has with all the different members of the community

I do have to say that, in terms of the mystery side, I kind of saw it coming. Not from the beginning, but I was able to put the pieces together. And I loved Hudson's reaction and how everyone immediately banded together for Lacy. I'm honestly glad this was one promise that he didn't keep.

Quote: “I want to know all her wishes so I can turn them into my to do list.”

“You already have your wings, Lacy. Now all you have to do is fly.”

The synopsis doesn’t describe the story properly. Two disappointing things is that the female character in the beginning of the story is bothered by other females who she didn’t get along with in freaking high school nor does she tell the truth about how she really feels about the Dr in the early chapters. Why does so many authors make the female characters behave so childish or ridiculously? Is it because the authors are female and that’s how they think females behave. How absurd. Early chapters and I don’t like this character. Too dishonest. The other absurdity is that whomever decides on the narrators of this story chose a male narrator who in the story is mid thirties but sounds like a 90 year old man. Can they not a narrator whose voice closely matches the age of the character. This male narrator ruins the story for me. DO BETTER I will never purchase an audiobook read by this author.
