Loved the story

Good story, antagonist gets his due. Slow growing live with plenty of spice.
Voice acting is superb. I already read book 3 narrated by Troy Duran. They brought him in to do the few lines Lachlan has in this book and I LOVE that! I hate it in a series when whoever is narrating does a voice I know. This is above and beyond!

Forbidden Age Gap Mafia Romance

Sinful Vows by Deborah Garland is a forbidden age gap secret child mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lexi Evans, DB West, and Troy Duran. This is the first book in the Astoria Royals series.

I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Ewan and Darcy. It was extremely messy, but I couldn't help but root for them. I loved getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Lexi Evans, DB West, and Troy Duran did an amazing job on the narration. I loved that they performed this book as a duet narration. It really brought the story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a mafia romance, forbidden romance, age gap romance, or dark romance.

Meant to Be!!

Sinful Vows by Deborah Garland is the first book in the Astoria Royals series. As of right now there are 6 books in the series with the 7th releasing on July 19, 2024. The audio of Sinful Vows was released recently as well as a new edition, June 30, 2024. I am reviewing the audio but the review will stand for the ebook as well.

Sinful Vows is the story of Ewan and Darcy. Ewan is a hitman for the Irish mafia and Darcy is well, she is his kin, let’s just leave it at that. Darcy lives in Ireland and has a chance meeting with Ewan, five years later and he comes back and changes her life. Ewan needs a wife for his best friend and boss. He finds Darcy and she is the only age-appropriate Quinlan left to marry off. After a rainstorm and being stuck in the house together things change not just for Darcy but for Ewan.

I enjoyed this story. I would recommend heeding the authors trigger warnings. There is sudo-incest and a secret child. So if either of those are not your cup of tea, skip this one. However, if you are like me and have no triggers check this one out. It is a pretty quick and easy read and it made me eager to read the rest of the Astoria Royals series. I hope to get a bit more of Ewan and Darcy in the series. I enjoyed their internal struggles and the push and pull between the two of them.

I rated this story four stars. It didn’t have any kind of surprises or “it” factors that would make it a five star read for me but it is good nonetheless and worth reading! I listened to an ALC (advanced listener copy) of this story and I liked the narration. I am a big audiobook listener so I have a lot of experience with good and bad narration. This narration is good and since I am not Irish and am not very familiar with the accent I thought it was presented well by the narrators. It is also a dual narration which you don’t hear much of and I liked it!

So, if you don’t mind the triggers, like the tropes, and like an accent check this one out!!

What a messy relationship we have here! Ewan and Darcy turn out to be relatives! What Ewan doesn’t know is that Darcy is not a blood relative and has a child now! He is unaware that this child belongs to him due to an accident. Ewan is very protective of Darcy and will do anything and everything to keep her safe. He finds it very hard to give her up to his best friend who needs a wife.

What happens when the truth comes out and all the secrets are revealed? Loved getting both points of view and really made the story better.
