Publisher's summary

From the twisted mind of New York Times best-selling author Eve Langlais comes the newest story from Hell.

Big deal, so he kept losing the oar. It wasn't Adexios' fault the Styx monsters were working against him, but tell that to his dad. Charon is determined to make a man out of him - whether his mother likes it or not - and Lucifer has offered to help. Help means sending Adexios into the wilds of Hell with an Amazon warrior as his companion.

The savage fighter doesn't know what to think of her geeky partner. Adexios attracts Valaska with his brains instead of brawn. He also shows a cunning courage she can't help but respect. They'll need all the skills they can muster, though, if they're going to prevail against the newest threat to Hell.

With the wilds submerged by seawater and monsters hungry for flesh, they'll have to fight to stay alive and learn opposites not only attract, they explode. (With passion, not guts, in case that wasn't clear.)

Welcome to the pit where the danger is never ending, the sea monsters are multiplying, and Lucifer is playing with hearts.

High school immaturity… eeew

This series nosedives from campy, raunchy fun to teenage-level cuteness that skeeved me out. In this novella, Lucifer suddenly has a thing for onesies, fuzzy slippers, and cartoon ducks all over his clothes; he’s little more than a buffoon. Worse, Adexio is a geek voiced like he’s twelve. He’s a mama’s boy who goes on Safari with magical access to his mama’s homemade cookies. Because Valaska is a kickbutt warrioress, this played like cringey cougar-teen romance.

Quite a bit of this story ties into the next one, so I guess I’m okay having listened to it in order to get back to the adult devilishly rom-com coming up in the series closer.

Can't get past kid voice.

The main male character is meant to be a geek, mama's boy etc. However, the voice Mindy uses sounds like a teenage boy. Every time he speaks, I envision a young "man" involved with this Amazon woman. There was no way I could visualize a grown man.

End of the Series for Me

The story starts off as an unlikely pairing is sent on a quest to conduct a census. Then some camping and sexual tension later they come across the evil of the story; a puddle. But not any puddle a salt water puddle. The story goes downhill from there and it is just one strange occurrence after another. I’m still not sure why Captain Nemo shows up. But by then I’m 4 hours in and just rolling with it. The main character couple have funny cute moments and GEEK is always sexy but by the end, the story was more about setting up Lucifer’s story in the next book. And I’m not interested in reading his woes so this book is the last for me. Another excellent performance by the narrator but sadly she wasn’t given much to work with.

The narrator does a great job with the voices.

The narrator does a great job with the voices. I will be listening to these many times.
I loved reading these books but I adore having them in audible. It is so much fun listening to the craziness of this series.
BOOK REVIEW
Another good read in this series. They just keep getting better and better.
Lucifer is up to his match making tricks again. This time it is Adexios (Charon's son) and Valaska (an amazonian warrior) he has in his sights. Along the way they fight an unseen enemy of Lucifers and Captain Nemo.
Adexios and Valaska were both really great and I liked them both very much. This was a fun story with lots of silliness and of course Lucifer being himself.
Loved the conversation at the end with Adexios’ mother.
Another giggle fest whilst I read this book from Ms Langlais.
Big twist at the end with who Lucifers enemy turns out to be. Book 6 looks to be going in a slightly different direction and away from Lucifers match making madness. I hope this is just a short change of direction as I have loved these stories and Lucifers antics.
