Story
Once upon a time, in a parallel universe, there existed the continent of Triton. The land was filled with beauty, but it was also splintered by war. Out of the chaos grew a conspiracy to reawaken the Beast, a fearsome creature who wrought only tragedy and devastation. The only way to stop him was to fulfill an ancient prophecy: Triton’s four strongest warriors must wed its four most powerful witches, binding all nations together and finally bringing peace to the land.

Brooklyn Manning thought her life was perfect in every way, until it crumbled down around her and turned into a dumpster fire. With her pride wounded and her tail tucked between her legs, she leaves New York and goes back to her tiny hometown of White Timber, Montana. No more 24-hour taco trucks, no more shopping at the best designer stores within walking distance, no more giving taxi drivers the finger when they angrily honk at her. She didn’t think it could get any worse. But then Clint Hastings walked into the room and insulted her.

Kailyn Flowers was always calm, rational, and controlled - until she ended up sprawled all over Daxton Hughes, the former actor she totally crushed on as a teenager. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Cute, Emotional Romantic Drama
- By M. B. E. on 09-13-19
Publisher's Summary
Cowritten by USA Today best-selling author Tara Sivec and award-winning narrator Andi Arndt, a hysterically funny, heartfelt romance - created specifically for the audio format!
Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born.
Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life reading erotic novels to the listening world. And with each episode, I find myself embracing my new alter ego more and more. Now I’m starting to feel more comfortable in my own skin and do things I never would have dreamed of - like kissing my neighbor.
Look out, Waconia, because Heidi’s on the loose! She’s in your ears, in your hearts, and down your pants...wait, that didn’t sound as good as it did in my head. Well, you get the picture, don’tcha know!
Winner for Best of 2019 in Audible Escape

Highly entertaining and a BLAST to listen to!
Tara Sivec's humor and Andi Arndt's narration... you know when I heard these two were co-writing a book and Andi was narrating I had to check it out right away. I'm so glad I did. It was sweet, cute, sexy, and down right hilarious!
Heidi Larsen is a former kindergarten teacher and her town's sweetheart. After getting laid off from her job, she finds something new. An administrative assistant job in a studio. Sounds great, right? This is a studio that produces audiobooks. Audiobooks that are mostly erotica and/or romance. It's something that Heidi becomes uncomfortable with almost immediately. After her first day, she takes home some spare equipment and after a box of wine, records her first ever podcast. It is a hoot.
Heidi talks about her life, her inexperience, and most importantly, her crush on her next door neighbor, Brent. While working at this studio, she makes friends with some of her co-workers and starts to come out of her shell. She uses the podcast to help as well. 'Heidi's Discount Erotica' features Heidi narrating some books- some of the steamier scenes to get her more comfortable.
This book was a bit over the top, but I was okay with that. It was so much fun to listen to. I laughed out loud so many times and I cheered for Heidi as she started to come out of her shell. I loved watching her with Brent, seeing her take charge and be more comfortable in her own skin. Also, every scene with her parents was just hilarious. This was one of the funniest things I've read in some time. Andi Arndt does an amazing job narrating, as always, and I was impressed with her writing skills as well. She and Tara Sivec collaborated on this seamlessly.
If you're looking for a book that will make you smile, laugh out loud, and is a bit ridiculous in the best way possible, pick up Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words. It was highly entertaining and a blast to listen to!

So good, and so funny!
I was broke, out of credits, and looking for romantic comedy on my Audible Escapes package. This book popped up almost immediately. Hopefully this review sticks around after I return the borrowed copy. I haven't reviewed anything I've borrowed yet. I've listened to both author/s and the narrator before, and loved the writing style of Sivec and voice-acting of Arndt. The fact they collaborated on the writing was an instant "get this book now" from me. I have been laughing my butt off all day, picturing sweet, awkward Heidi , trying to say bad words and having to resort to rhyming them, to avoid sayimg them. Seriously. If you need to laugh at dorky people, this book will make you laugh as you squirm! Awesome!

Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words was such a hilarious and fun romcom! There isn't any heavy lifting or angst/drama. There are just laugh out loud moments as Heidi discovers herself and her sexuality. The story and romance was playful and sweet (though sometimes Heidi was a little too naive and clumsy). The secondary characters added lots of laughs as well, and I especially loved Heidi's parents. Their less than ideal meet cute with Brent gave me a stomach cramp because I was laughing so hard! Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words felt almost like a story within a story since it was an audiobook discussing audiobooks, narrators, and podcasts. I loved all of the little Minnesota details and mannerisms too. Even though I'm not sure how accurate they are since I'm from California, they were a fun treat. I really enjoyed Andi Arndt's narration and Minnesota accent. Her comedic timing was awesome and she played every character perfectly. This is a great audiobook if you're in the mood to laugh!

Funniest book ever
I adored listening to this book. I think something would have gotten lost reading the book. Andi's Minnesota accent was HILARIOUS!!! Her expression and pace was perfect. She completely captured Heidi's voice and mannerisms. I would listen to this book while running and had to stop sometimes because I would laugh so hard. I even passed this book on to my husband to listen to. It is that good. I kept looking for a book from Tara about Jamison and Aubrey and one doesn't seem to exist. This audiobook is absolute perfection!

Quirkily hilarious
Where do I begin? With the book or the audible? I have had the pleasure of reading and listening to this hilarious book. Both ways work so well for this story!
Sivec, per usual, did a wonderful job at bringing out quirky characters and giving them an animated bumpy romance. A romance with the right amount of angsty lusting, everyday mishaps, and characters that will melt your heart.
The narration of this book is superb! I laughed just as hard as I did when I read. In some cases, I laughed even harder. It's funny how some things are only funny when you read them and some are only funny when you listen to them. Andi did a wonderful job with acting out this story.
Overall, this book is hilariously written and told. No matter what format you choose for this story, you can't go wrong with either one of them.

This book was just perfect all the way around. I was originally intrigued by the name of the book, because I can never find a book that has my name as the heroine. Of course I do love the authors of this book!

Heidi's Guide
What a fun book, I love who easy it was to listen to. I was smiling or laughing the whole way through.
The fact that Heidi is so adorkable is relatable, I can’t even with her. She really is a great character and the growth she has from the beginning of the book to the end is something I love with my stories.
Brent steals the show too in his own way but really this was all Heidi in all the very best ways. I really needed something light and fun after a few pretty heavy books and this hit the spot.
I am a fan of Tara Sivec’s she always seems to make me laugh, I enjoy Andi’s narration most of the time so these two together I was a little leery on that is just me being honest. But I loved the writing the style and the way the book comes off.
The narration and the Minnesota accent was spot on. I really did enjoy every aspect of this book. I hope we see more from both the narrator and the authors.

Be sure to be on the lookout for a Serta sleeper and I dare you not to fall out at that moment in the story. So many laughs for #TeamHeidi
This story was a breath of fresh air!
It was such a fun and unique storyline and I absolutely fell in love with it...all of it!!! From the very beginning I was laughing so hard! I even made a tater tot hotdish for dinner because the mom was super convincing that I needed to eat tater tot hotdish while I listened. But the story was also super sweet! And these two characters were perfect for each other!
But let's be honest, this story is ALL about Heidi! This was her show and she was is now one of my favorite characters! She is quirky and has this innocence to her and maybe slightly naive too but I absolutely adore her! The narrator did an amazing job bringing Heidi to life and I think that is another reason why I love this character.
If you love romcoms this is the book for you! I just finished it and I want to listen to it again!

Funny, charming and a little cheesy
Loved it. Found myself laughing out loud more than once. So good I finished it in one go, and was searching for more books similar before the end of the epilogue.

Cheesy, but Good Cheesy
It's funny and short, somehow (surprisingly) sexy, and allover just a warm story to make you giggle. There were a handful of overly-cheesy, very ironic bits, but what can you expect. I like that it was so short, and I think any longer would have dragged it on too much. Will be keeping my eye out for this author again.
Narration is...not the norm. The story is about a podcast, but for a while I felt like I was listening to an actual podcast, which didn't feel consistent with the rest of the story. It wasn't the worst, but did confuse me and break me out of the story a bit. Otherwise, narration was pretty good.
