In this essential guide, the groundbreaking author of Eat to Beat Depression and Anxiety and The Happiness Diet explores the ten tenets vital to cultivating Mental Fitness and provides direct, actionable techniques to improve brain function and emotional health.

The human brain—the complex organ responsible for our thoughts, feelings, and actions—has long been misunderstood. Dr. Drew Ramsey argues that to heal our brains, we must start considering conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD and addiction—and the patients living with them—more holistically.

Healing the Modern Brain offers a new approach to revitalizing and protecting mental health and achieving Mental Fitness. Simply defined, Mental Fitness is the knowledge, patterns, habits, and skills that culminate in a more mentally healthy life: an approach to living that takes into consideration the unrealistic demands of modern living, time, choice, genetics, lifestyle, diet, habits, chemistry, movement, rest, and mindset. It is a process that will put your brain in a perpetual state of self-repair and evolution, and ensure it has the support it needs to overcome daily stress, decision-fatigue, and uncertainty.

Clear and straightforward, Healing the Modern Brain provides the knowledge and tools needed to nurture Mental Fitness—bringing together the latest scientific research with results from Dr. Ramsey’s clinical practice to show us how we can put ourselves on the road to healing anxiety and depression, and better care for our miraculous, modern brains.

Dr. Ramsey’s book is insightful and helpful for those seeking self-awareness tools and tips to bolster their mental health and fitness. He walks readers through how small daily choices can have large impacts their lives. His stories are relatable, enjoyable and helpful. I have recommended this book to friends and family and hope that my teenage daughters will read it with me this summer, too. I was a little nervous about its applicability to my life at first with the discussions on depression/anxiety, but while this book might aim to help people who suffer from more “clinical” mental health issues, it’s equally helpful to those who are just here to improve their lives in small, but meaningful and manageable ways. 10/10 recommend.

This man understands what it means to help others. His message is delivered with calm confidence and I was able to keep up with the pace of the book and understand concepts rather than worrying about buzzwords. So many books that aim to help resort to things like "top five ideas" or "what to do before you finish this page." Dr. Ramsey's book had me sitting across the room from him, sharing a conversation. Really soaking in his words and the ideas.

My favorite part of the book was that he started many ideas very simply. At first, you're almost tempted to think you know what he's going to say but he's setting the stage. You don't get lost or lose focus on what he is imparting because he's carefully guiding you and keeping you close. It's a feeling of deep caring and concern. I felt that he honored his reader.

I'm grateful to have found Dr. Ramsey and hope whoever reads this review will listen to the book and share your thoughts.
