Story
Demi Crawford was Magnolia Falls royalty. I was the boxer from the wrong side of the tracks. She was the epitome of everything good, while I was broody and rebellious. We couldn’t be more different. Her family was enemy number one which made her guilty by association. I despised her before I even knew her. It was easier that way. But now she’d moved in next door to me, and she was everywhere I turned. I couldn’t avoid her no matter how hard I tried. She was beautiful and honest and sweet. Everything I knew I shouldn’t want. Shouldn’t need.

Football star. Single dad. And once, a long time ago, mine. I’ve spent the better part of a decade forgetting Ford Ellis. If he had just stayed away from Montana, I might have erased the memory of his striking blue eyes and rugged smile forever. Avoiding him was easy when the only place I saw his face was on ESPN—and a remote control could fix that problem.

There are a million reasons why I shouldn’t date Fletcher Huxley. He’s a growly-faced, stubborn-streaked, international rugby legend trying to revive his flailing career in the US after being canned by his team overseas. While he might have the good kind of thunder thighs, intriguing tattoos, and a booty of steel, he also holds the top position on my very short nemesis list thanks to what happened the first time we met.

Whip King cannot be the man for me. Cocky, pierced firefighters are perfect for late-night rom-coms, but in real life they’re nothing but trouble. Especially when you find out they work for your dad—after you’ve already slept with them. Moving to my parents’ small town was supposed to be the fresh start I was looking for. When a disastrous Valentine’s Day leads to an unexpected encounter with a sexy stranger, and ends with the hottest night of my life, I didn’t think I would ever see Whip again.

Aiden Stone is a six-foot-two former Marine with a permanent scowl, dark hair, and dreamy blue eyes. He’s the oldest of the Stone brothers, and his “by the book” family has battled mine for control of our small town for generations. The last thing I should do is sleep with him. Or nearly run him down with my truck. Especially since he's sort-of my new boss.

Marrying Beckett Coleman is the best idea I've had in years. I can grant my sick dad’s wish to walk one of his daughters down the aisle, and Beckett has my help solving a custody situation with his daughter. Our plan is to spend a year together, then part ways. Easy, especially since I'm not his type, and he's not mine either. He’s too quiet and too serious. And while he’s distractingly gorgeous, he’s also my brother’s teammate. Beckett is fake husband material, not the real deal. I just have to remember that.

Being a single dad while managing one of the biggest businesses in New Orleans keeps me very busy. I spend my free time with my daughter, Bella—reading to her, styling her hair, or choosing nail polishes appropriate for an eight-year-old. But I’m okay with that, because she is my whole world. After my divorce, I made myself a promise: I wouldn’t date until Bella was older. Then, all my good intentions go up in smoke when I hire our newest chef for the flagship restaurant in the French Quarter.

So I picked up the pieces and ran away to New York City. I had a plan that would keep my heart intact for years. But one phone call changed everything. Returning home meant facing the past . . . and the man who ruined me. I had hoped that the mountain had swallowed him whole.

Someone is stalking Audrey Young. And she has no idea why. Complicating matters is her landlord and new neighbor, Josiah Haven. She doesn’t usually go for the big, surly lumberjack type. But there’s something about that broody man. He intimidates her a little, but she kind of likes it. She could totally handle the mess that is her life, except the strange feeling of being watched is just the beginning. Next thing Audrey knows, she’s a target, and she doesn’t know who’s behind it or why. For Josiah Haven, none of that makes her his problem.

Help Wanted: Grumpy Mountain Man seeks baby momma. Job is an incubator position only. Surrogate must be impervious to grunting in the form of communication and nosey brotherly neighbors. Rustic mountain range housing available upon request. I wanted to pummel my irritating brothers when they posted their own version of a wanted ad to help me with my life. Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don't recommend it. Especially if he's anything like Erik Wilder: Former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump. To be clear, I didn't want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be. He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily-ever-after kind of girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.

Publisher's summary
There’s only one course of action when your dad wants you to marry a clammy-handed wimp to make one of his board members happy—you get yourself stuck in an elevator with a hot stranger and have the steamiest make-out session of your life. Years of etiquette lessons went out the window thanks to Cameron Wilder, who managed to unleash my hidden bad girl with naught but his talented mouth and deliciously rough hands.
Afterwards, he went back to his small-town life, and I marched home to inform my dad there would be no business-centric nuptials. As punishment, he shipped me off to Sisters, Oregon and demanded I turn a healthy profit on a not-so-healthy property.
You see where I’m going with this—the buttoned-up city girl stuck in a small town hires a local builder to help her … and he’s the hot stranger from the elevator. Turns out, I have a weakness for the broad-shouldered nice guy who’s not so nice behind closed doors. Keeping things professional gets harder the longer I’m in town, until the only lesson I have left to learn is how to keep both our hearts from getting broken.

Lucie Redway knows one thing for certain: her best friend will have the most perfect destination wedding. She may not know if she’ll still have her agony aunt column next month, or if her love life will ever be more exciting than a midnight swipe right, but Lucie would rather exhaust herself than let Stacey down on her Big Day. Not even Charlie, the insufferably attractive and hateful best man, can get in her way. Before the flight touches down in Spain, Lucie is hit with a curveball. Sat next to world-famous psychic Miranda Bloom, she’s told she’ll leave the wedding with the love of her life.

Story
Marrying Beckett Coleman is the best idea I've had in years. I can grant my sick dad’s wish to walk one of his daughters down the aisle, and Beckett has my help solving a custody situation with his daughter. Our plan is to spend a year together, then part ways. Easy, especially since I'm not his type, and he's not mine either. He’s too quiet and too serious. And while he’s distractingly gorgeous, he’s also my brother’s teammate. Beckett is fake husband material, not the real deal. I just have to remember that.

This wasn’t the typical boy meets girl story. In our case, it was extraordinary: a boy met a girl and another boy. And he fell madly in love with both. Greyson was a gifted musician whose songs soothed even the most shattered souls. Aerin was a ballerina, exuding an elegance that could steal your breath away. They weren’t just my loves. They were my reason to breathe—my world. Until a tragedy broke us into a thousand pieces.

Story
Competing as a professional rodeo cowboy was everything he wanted. All that mattered. An opportunity he wouldn’t pass by. But it meant leaving his high-school sweetheart behind. Mae Wells was sweet, and innocent, and quiet. Not the kind of girl you dragged away from her family and home to follow you around the country. At eighteen it didn’t seem like a huge sacrifice. But at almost thirty, Boone’s lived enough and lost enough to realize he threw away something precious. Something he’s been chasing ever since.

He proposed . . . and I said yes. Normally a jovial occasion for a couple in love, but this proposal has a very different feel. Because the man that I'll be calling my husband blew into town with one thing on his mind . . . to make my life a living nightmare. So why did I say yes? Well, because we both need something from each other. Namely, I want the farm land he currently owns, and he needs a wife in order to inherit his family cabin in his grandfather’s will. So as he so eloquently put it, my hand, for his land.

Such a wonderful, sweet story.
I am a huge fan of Karla Sorensen and this is another great book of hers. The Wilders are such an amazing family and every love story has been so good. Cameron and Ivy hooked me from the very beginning. I loved that we got to visit with all of the family in this book. Their bond is so special.

Perfect in any form - Ivy steals the show!
😭😭😭 <---- my first reaction.
Did my dog Bear (KARLA HOW DID I NOT KNOW WE BOTH HAVE DOGS NAMED BEAR?) immediately come over to snuggle me as I finished this book because he's so empathetic and could TELL I WAS IN MY FEELS? Yes, yes he did. It was incredible. And so was this book.
Do I have 87 highlights in my ARC? Yes.
Did this book blow me away because it was SO KARLA while also being SO DIFFERENT than her other books? Also yes.
Is Cameron Wilder my new favorite Wilder sibling??? Maybe so!
I always love the Wilder siblings, but Ivy stole the show. I love Cameron Wilder more for seeing Ivy for exactly who she is and loving her BECAUSE OF THOSE THINGS.
The things I loved are numerous... here we go:
- the meet cute and then the real meet cute in the elevator
- THE FREAKING NICKNAME *KILLED ME* + Ivy having a love-hate relationship with it made it so much better (loving that she didn't hate it, perhaps?)
- Cameron's immediate protectiveness of Ivy
- The Wilder family showing up for Ivy consistently
- Ivy witnessing the Wilder clan in their beautiful mess, and for the first time maybe ever realizing that her dad hasn't been loving her the way she deserves
- Neville the freaking kitten nearly did me in
- Ivy and Poppy's friendship
- Cameron being someone who Ivy could let in, could trust that he'd teach her and let her figure it out on her own, but would always be close by to help if she asks for it
- The tension that finally boiled over... it left marks on both main characters in the permanent love kinda way
- Ivy slowly showing up at the Wilder household, and the Wilders (Sheila and Tim especially) accepting whatever she gave but also acknowledging things about Ivy that went unseen in her own family, until they couldn't deny a bond between them, leading to...
- Ivy trying to bake (swoooooony moments from Cam - warning you now)
- Breakfast on the counter
- The challenges between Ivy and Cameron - they didn't cave to each other, and they certainly didn't go soft on each other... this was probably my favorite part of their relationship dynamic. They challenged each other but also did it maturely, in a way that made their chemistry freaking sizzle
- Cameron getting jealous at the bar :)
- The fall festival and getting to see the WHOLE Wilder crew
- Ivy coming out of her ice queen shell around the community in Sisters, rather than cower and hide and disappear like she did in her life before
- The way Ivy discovered how all of her training and education and upbringing could be super helpful in whatever way SHE decided; the transformation and autonomy was so powerful to witness
- Texts about offices and desks being cleared off....
- Rides in a pickup truck
- When Cameron knocks Ivy straight on her butt when he proves how much he knows her... ugh. Authors who want to do the "I know you" micro-trope could learn something from Karla! This was PERFECTION.
- When Ivy proves just how brave, smart, resourceful, and mature she is, I cried. That moment and the decisions that follow are inspiring. She took her life back and proved just how ready she is to take on whatever she decides is next for her.
- Ivy beating literally everyone at chess
- When Cameron lets Ivy be the supportive one (for once?)
Favorite quote: "Ivy still had chocolate in her hair and a streak of Cool Whip on her cheek, and I studied her with a tilt of my head. Messy. Imperfect and open and sweeter than she wanted anyone to know. Mine."
This book obviously gets 20 stars out of 5 from me. It was encouraging and demonstrated that being brave looks different to each person. It challenges the way we "think" people "should" act or be, and helps us remember that loving people FOR WHO THEY ARE AS PEOPLE is so important (thanks Tim Wilder for that nugget of wisdom). It's Ivy learning to acknowledge that there is no such thing as perfection, but there is hope and joy in letting someone help you along the way with no gain for themselves other than seeing you accomplish something that makes you happy. And it's a hug when your world crumbles and things shift and nothing feels the same way it once did.
THE AUDIO IS... PERFECT. I was so emotional by the end of the story. I'm grateful I was able to sob on my way HOME from work, instead of on my way to work. Another 5 star rating from me!

A win for the nice guys!!
Cameron and Ivy’s story was so sweet. We love an emotionally available and mature hero. He knows what he wants and plays no games about it. I have devoured through all the Wilder books out so far, and they are just a wonderful family. I am excited to see what’s next, but especially Poppy’s story!

Opposites attract, small town romance!
Head Over Heels is the second book in the Wilder Family standalone series (book 1 is One and Only). This one is a small town, opposites attract (city girl, small town boy) romance!
Ivy and Cameron first meet while stuck in an elevator together. They end up sharing a lot with one another quickly, finally letting out things to a complete stranger that they haven’t really told anyone or admitted to themselves yet. They end up making out as well, but then go their separate ways once they’re out of the elevator. We cut to months later and she ends up in the small town where he lives. She was sent there as a punishment of sorts by her father after she says no to an arranged marriage situation he had lined up for her. She quickly runs into Cameron again and ends up being taken in with the entire Wilder family while there.
This series has been okay for me, they are good but not favs from this author. They are quick, easy reads though if you’re in the mood for a lower angst, small town series following a family. We do deal a lot with his family, seeing his siblings, and his father who has a terminal illness. I feel like there are just so many small town romances out there nowadays, and this one just didn’t stack up for me.
