Publisher's summary

Hardcore Self Help: F--k Anxiety is for those of us who find the prospect of reading a traditional self-help book to be way too boring. How are you supposed to make positive changes in your life if the book itself feels like a chore? This audiobook is definitely not a chore.

In Hardcore Self Help: F--k Anxiety, I talk to you like a friend. There is lots of swearing and humor but also loads of helpful and actionable information. You learn about anxiety and how to find the weapons within yourself to slay it for good.

I Am Not Offended By Offensive Language...

when it is used with effect, but this is gratuitous and stupid. The author tries to make up for the very ordinary approach to anxiety treatment (nothing new here) with "talking like a normal person" ("normal" if you use empty vulgarity every other word) and trying to seem hip and cool and identifiable. (The tone pretty much runs like this: "You don't need some egghead telling you about those fancy neurotransmitters when I can make it seem much more relatable by referring to your brain as a "douche."--Please!) It's not so much anxiety as the reader here that ends up feeling....well,,,

Waste of time

Although the author does a very good job of narrating his book and his ideas and it was entertaining to listen to the subject matter is pointless and I got absolutely nothing from this. I would not recommend this to anyone

It's ok. But not awesome.

I like the author who's also the reader. I think this book is geared towards the younger generation. I bought the book because of the title but I was expecting a little bit more than I got. I think it's a great read if this is the first time you are reading about anxiety.

not too shabby

What's with the clicking sound during the meditation? Otherwise the rest of the book is really good!

Reads more like a business card

Had good expectations for this. It’s funny and a few nice lines here and there, but overall there’s no substance here. Sorry. I might look into the dr’s other stuff. But I was hoping for more here.

Liked the book until he diminished OCPD

I generally liked his take on self help but I think he may lack some experience in actually dealing with patients.
He started diminishing OCPD by saying that it's just someone who is "finicky" where as OCD is different and is a serious disorder that is a legitimate cause of anxiety.
Coming from someone who has suffered from OCPD for decades, I can tell you the anxiety that arises from someone moving things around in your room, or from being super late to finish a task or email because it's not "right" yet, is very real and debilitating sometimes. To the point where I need to take an Ativan to stop obsessing over my thoughts. OCPD is as real as a disorder as OCD, they are just different from each other. At least he got that right.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Anxiety SUCKS and I have been struggling with it for years. I am 25 and Im a single mom of a 1 1/2 year old; I don't have time for panic attacks! This book gave me more confidence and made me feel less like a freak. I'm always embarrassed about my anxiety and it always happens randomly - there's no "real" trigger... just being around people freaks me out.

Anyways, I am so happy I found this book. Definitely gives great advice and information. I highly suggest reading/listening to this... I personally prefer listening :)

THANK YOU ROBERT DUFF! YOU ROCK!

Tired of the same old Bullshit? DUFF IS THE BEST!!!

I understand that we all struggle with our own things. For myself, Duff made since, kept me interested, not bored, left skipping to the next chapter to see if that would be more about me, I think I related to every chapter in one way or another. I am also stoked to...”Do the work!!!” I would be scheduling an appointment with Robert. Because I have shopped around and the big problem is that I always get a different diagnosis!! Makes it kinda hard not to try to self diagnose. But I’m not gonna do that . Wish me luck! And to all of you, suffering from and anxiety disorder and are looking for something more... this is it!!! Thanks Robert!!!

click bait

When I first started listening, I was all like, "OK i could get into this". a few chapters in, I realize it's nothing more than one long ad to go to the website, "check out my YouTube", check out my wife's story, etc.
