Goofus and Gallant have been working hard at making their very own video game in the computer lab, and pretty soon they’re enlisted to make a video for the school website. Easy…right? Except it’s about web etiquette, and there are LOTS of rules to follow. Can Goofus and Gallant work together to make a great video, or will they end up breaking the rules before they even begin?

About the Scriptwriters

Greg and Pinch Lee are the husband and wife team behind Captain Fun Productions. They first met in the early ‘90s while working together on the Peabody and Emmy award-winning PBS children’s TV show Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? Greg was smitten immediately. Pinch was also smitten though much, much…MUCH later, and still refuses to say exactly when it finally happened for her (but it DID eventually happen).
With their combined talents in writing, design, voice over, producing, editing, production coordination, team management, acting, hosting, and song writing, Pinch and Greg have managed to stay busy over the years creating all kinds of content for TV, film and publishing. Their most recent co-creative adventures have led them to work with Illumination Entertainment, Highlights Magazine, Audible, and GoNoodle.

Classic

I started reading Highlights back in the 60's and I still read them when I go to hospitals, such a great way for young children to learn and grow up with, should be mandatory for all kids as part of life education

My 5.5 year old twins love these stories.

I'm giving this top scores because of how much my 5.5 yr olds love it. I have been looking for something like this for a while, a multi person scripted story like old timey radio. We've listened to all 8 of the episodes to date and I love that so far a new story has been released every week. " I " don't love the music, especially the song they sing at the end, but the twins aren't bothered by it. The only thing I know that compares to it in terms of quality is the Adventures in Odyssey which is a Christian drama series.

Modern Take on a Classic Duo

Oh, wow! This is a blast from the past, but it's so thoroughly modern. What a fun listen! The kids can't wait for more episodes. Well done Audible and Highlights!

Good but not great

This was a good episode but the writers did not take into account that Gallant is kind, but does not over do stuff that he does not need do, I know this because I receive the Highlights magazines myself. Otherwise great episode

My kids are obsessed. (12 & 8)

Both of my children love these books. I used to love highlights as a kid so I had them listen to this and they will not ask me to turn it on every time we are in the car

Enjoyable for kiddos

My seven year old son loves it! He has listened to each episode multiple times. It’s easy to know which is Goofus and which is Gallant based on their voices. The stories are cute and have good messages. My son enjoys them so much he asked how he could get more. We’re bummed it’s only going to run through until the end of the month.

Not Enjoyable

It is very rare that my children will tell me they do not like an audio book. We listen to several books throughout the day. They asked me to turn this one off. They found it to be annoying and it lacks substance in my opinion. Skip

Great for little kids too!

It’s hard to find good audiobooks/podcasts for young children that aren’t also incredibly boring and irritating for adults. Content is either for older kids with too much high drama (death is a popular theme), or geared towards infants and early toddlerhood that is all about short silly rhyming stories that don’t translate well from board book into an audio only book. This Goofus and Gallant series is perfect for my almost 4 year old. Each episode is around 20ish minutes, the voices are fantastic, the stories are light but fun, and the occasional songs aren’t too bad either. I like all the positive reinforcement that it’s okay to be yourself and different from others. Each episode has a moral too which is nice. Great podcast series and I hope they make many more!
