The story:

Heldanarr Fall dreams of a world without gods.

Despite harrowing losses, Held clung to his people’s ways, forging a new existence without a single prayer to the armoured deity, Sigmar.

Now, all Held wants is solitude. But after saving a Sigmarite priestess from violent death, her troubles catch up to them and destroy the last of his peace. First broken, then enraged, he launches a brutal war of vengeance against Sigmar’s worshippers, and soon finds himself thrust against the Stormcast Eternals, led by the cunning strategist Ildrid Stormsworn.

Alone, he cannot hope to win, yet surrender would mean accepting the mercy of a god he despises. To defeat the Stormcasts and avenge his fate, Held must embrace older, darker powers that risk the very freedom for which he fights. But when Sigmar's rulers are tyrants and the Champions of Chaos prove worthy, which path is the most righteous? And once this choice is made, who will Heldanarr Fall become?

Chaos at it finest

It's a great read, memorable moments, and heavily story focus compared to action, its moments.

Made me Like Chaos, and the Mortal Realms in general

This is my first book I’ve read in the mortal realms of Age of Sigmar, and it was good. I feel like I understand the world of this universe better, and the motivations and life of Chaos better. I listened to it because I just bought some Slaves to Darkness models and it couldn’t have aligned better! A fun ride throughout and great character development.

The character development in this book is fantastic! The way we watch our protagonist and is allies evolve is really well written. there are a few really good twists that left me pleasantly surprised. The ending is absolutely amazing!! If you enjoy Age of Sigmar and/or good character development with morally gray characters - you need to read this book!

It’s awesome to see the rise of a chaos warlord in the mortal realms. I really liked all the little details of the different tribes and cultures in Aqshy!

If you want a good way to get into a Slaves to Darkness army, this is a pretty good hype book
