Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new stand-alone dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.

I caught the attention of a monster.

I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming.

But the moment I do, it’s too late.

Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.

He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.

The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.

I do.

And that will cost me everything.

I run, but the thing about monsters?

They always chase.

This book is a dark unconventional romance and contains themes that aren't to everyone's liking. Please check the author's note in the ebook for content warnings before listening.

TEEN - DEFINITELY NOT FOR ME

I’d preordered this because of the book’s tempting dark blurb and the cast of male narrators.. however, on a preorder, you don’t get a chance to listen to the narration. The female narrator here (IMO) can’t do a realistic male voice.. but I persevered.. unfortunately though, I didn’t make it too far into the story because of the content and the YA theme. To cast Sebastian York’s rich, very adult voice off as a troubled nineteen year old psycho School teen is laughable (the heroine is also nineteen) and I didn’t even get to Aaron or Wen’s characters who, presumably will also be nineteen. I love a good dark romance as well as the twisted, dark, alpha, anti heroes that go along with them.. but this didn’t pull me in at all and I stopped listening by chapter 9.

Worth a credit? This is the next generation from Rina Kent’s Royal Elite series and, for fans who followed those High School/bully romances, then I’m sure you’re gonna absolutely love these. But for me, the female narrator’s voice grated and the teen type of story isn’t my chosen genre.. so sadly, I’ll be returning this book.

Yes, trigger warning may be needed

This book is obviously not for young teens or anyone triggered by sexual assault, blackmail, etc. However with that being said, it’s important to read the actual book description. Given that this is Rina Kent I expected it to be dark. I quite enjoyed it. Killian is literally the ‘I don’t care about anyone but you’ guy trope. Yes, he has a disability (ASPD) which is romanticized and in reality he would not make a good lover. It’s just a fictional a story that calls to my darker side, it was hot.
I hope Rina Kent continues to make stories where the character has ASPD or another personality disorder. It’s interesting reading about characters who aren’t neurotypical.
Didn’t love the narrators choices for the main characters though, but it was bearable. For 19 year olds Sebastian York sounds too old and Josie is bad at male voices. For the female definitely should have chosen Addison Barnes!

Fantabulous Audiobook!!

God of Malice by Rina Kent

I Give this Book a 5/5 Star Rating!!
What a Freaking Fantabulous Read!!
This is a MEGA Reread BUT MOST DEFINITELY a Relisten! 😍😍😍

**Audiobook Review at Bottom

HEA(?): Heck Yeah!
This book is by far the best in this entire Book Universe, I saw that nearly every time with the previous reads but this was soo freaking good, I actually stopped reading the book in order to buy the audiobook cause I NEEDED to hear everyone’s voices as I read, the Audiobook was just perfection (to me)!
I’m absolutely curious as to who will be paired up with who in future books, I’m really really anticipating all their books.
The writing style for this books just felt so fresh and flowed so well, I was completely enraptured.
Relationship Type: MF
Romance: 3.5/5
Heat: 4.5/5
Dark(?): May be darker for others, 3/5.
Pacing: Mid, really well paced but as usual I never want characters in this universe books to end 😆 I wish it just kept going 😂
Drama: 3.5-4/5
Suspense: 4-4.5/5

Audiobook Review:
Overall: 5/5!!!!
Story: 5/5
Performance: 5/5
Narrators: Sebastian York, Josie Minor, Aaron Shedlock, Wen Ross & Kylie Stewart

I just need to say this..The Audiobook is Perfection!!
Not only do you get Glyn’s & Killian’s own Narrators, who were soooo freaking good by the way! But you get to hear the individual narrators for past characters (aka Parents & Grandparents), it was such a welcoming surprise and a joy to listen, I cracked up so many times 😂
I can wait to hear the next book for whoever it is and be able to hear the Parents POV’s in that as well!!😍😍😍

4.5 Utterly Addictive Stars! ❤

Ever since God of Malice was announced i could not contain my excitement for it! Having read Ms.Kent's work many times before i always can't wait to see what she comes up with next! With every teaser, i was even more excited and started counting down the days! As soon as i found out about this audiobook i knew i absolutely had to listen to it! I loved this listen!

First off, can i just say just how much i adored the fact that God of Malice had multiple narrators? It brought alive the story in such a one of a kind way and i couldn't get enough it! Sebastian York, Josie Minor, Aaron Shedlock, Wen Ross, and Kylie Stewart were all so wonderful with their narration! I've listened to Sebastian, Aaron, and Wen before, but this was my first time listening to Josie and Kylie which was so fun for me! I thoroughly enjoyed what each narrator brought to the story and this cast of characters. I was pulled in by the narration for both Glyndon and Killian, which had me very much glued to my earbuds!

Killian and Glyndon's journey had me hooked from beginning to end! Right from the heart stopping moment these two are brought into each other's lives, i was on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to see how everything would play out for them!

From the chemistry 🔥 to the darkness, Our anti-hero and our heroine had me feeling every single thing under the sun! I swear, the roller coaster ride of emotions i went through while listening had me falling for this story even more! I was so glad that i got to dig into both of their minds. I honestly didn't know what all to expect and the unpredictable of it all got me into it even more so.

It was awesome getting into the Legacy of Gods world! I so enjoyed what all of the other characters brought to the story! Has me so excited for what's to come! I also loved the way i could picture everything so vividly in my mind. It brought even more depth to the characters and this audiobook for me.

With God of Malice, Ms.Kent brings her signature unique darkness in way that is so utterly addictive! She never fails to make me feel so dang much! From the story to the narration, This is one unforgettable listen! I cannot wait to dive back into the Legacy of Gods world with the second installment, God of Pain! ❤

Be sure to check the trigger warning for this listen as this is dark.

I wanted to, but I couldn’t. 😔

I generally love Rina Kent, and I’ve listened to every one of her books, but this one was a struggle.

I’m not sure if it was harder to listen to this because I’ve read the entire Royal Elite series or if it would have been better without the back story. I spent more time looking at the family tree trying to remember who belongs to what family, and the stories of their parents. I feel like a lot of the story was around this person’s cousin/sibling etc. The girls in this story were annoying. I get they are college aged, but ughh, it was just too much. The chapters from their parent’s perspectives were just weird. The story lacked plot and was 15 hrs of reading about their family tree and setting up story lines for the rest of the series.

The narration was all wrong in this book. The voice of Glyndon was so immature and slow. It was the first book I’ve read at a faster speed. Sebastian York is generally great, but who casts him for the role of a 19 year old? It just doesn’t fit. Aaron Shedlock as Levi is just a no too.

I’ll still listen to all the other books and am already praying the next one is better. 🤞🏻

The perfect amount of twisted!

Tropes: dark romance

One heavily intense encounter and Killian Carson developed an intense and psychotic obsession with Glyndon King. He is a monster adept at charm. His heart is cold and he knows how to manipulate without anyone realizing it. Most see just the charm but the predator is set free in Glyn's presence. She'll try to run but that's just what he's waiting for.

This is a dark romance! Please educate yourself before reading! This story will not be for everyone. The plot was epically intricate and twisted which was right up my alley. I listened to this audiobook. It was unlike any audiobook I've experienced before. There are multiple narrators for more than just Killian and Wyn. For me, the story was five stars but I struggled a little with the audiobook. Some may enjoy it but others may be better off reading the ebook. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Typical Bully romance

3.5 Stars.

Killian finds Glyndon a mess after she just lost her best friend. He forces her into a position. She never gets what just happened and moves on. Glyndon is an artist and she wants to finds out what happened to her friends so she tries to get into Killian's secret club but gets eliminated. She also starts to gain feelings just like he starts to even though he hates everyone. What happens when the person you hate is the one you can't forget? What happens when the person who's the biggest A-Hole takes your virginity? What happens when you change the one psychopath?

This book was boring and very slow. I was expecting a bit more and intense for how big of a psychopath Killian was described. I was hoping for a lot more. The spice was great. Maybe would have been more exciting if I where to have read it instead of on audio.

Well that was something different.

I quite enjoy Rina's book and I don't have a ton of strong opinions about second-generation books, but here we are diving right in.

I haven't quite read a book with MMC like Killian with nearly every quality that'll have you thinking, why should we like this guy? Definitely won't go down as the swoon-worthy book boyfriend for many, but I quite enjoyed reading about Killian. The dynamics of this character were full of red flags, but here I am finding some likable qualities ;-)

I'd say the enemies to lovers trope goes deep between Glyndon and Killian, but even that might be an understatement because Glyn could shout from every rooftop about how much she hated Killian. But he was so unbothered by it and kept on with his day.

Their back and forth is a huge part of their story and I was enjoying every second of it!

As you get closer to the end, walls are coming down a bit, and start seeing the slightest glimpse of softness that Killian has towards Glyn. Definitely not your traditional sweet stuff, but in his way, that's how he shows how much he cares for her.

One thing I was hoping we'd get more is the relationship between Killian and his father, Asher. I wasn't looking forward to the chapter of his POV, but that scene was everything. And just the realization of what his son thought of him for a huge part of his life. Not going to lie, it made me cry a little cause despite Kill's hardshell, this was absolutely a vulnerable spot for him.

SO yeah, definitely enjoyed this rather dark and twisty standalone in Rina's new series.

Narration: When I saw all the narrators, I thought this was a full cast, but we get a few chapters from other POVs, just the one though. I'm a fan of Sebastian York, but their voice didn't seem age appropriate for God of Malice. It was off when we'd go from Josie Minor as Glyndon and then into Killian's chapters, didn't sound like a 19-year-old. I enjoyed Josie's narrations but wasn't a fan of the voiceovers for their dialogue with Killian. I enjoyed the brief cameos of Aaron, Wen, and Kylie, their voices were great for their one chapter, and will definitely be on the lookout for more by them.

Note: like most of Rina's dark romances, definitely check out the content warnings for this one.

TRIGGER WARNING AT BOTTOM OF REVIEW! Also make sure you read the authors note before reading.

Not gonna lie, I was a little unsure at the beginning if the author could convince me to love Killian. I’m not sure how she did it but here we are lol. Is he a good guy? Not at all. Is he pretty funny and somehow lovable? Surprisingly, yes. I was hooked through this whole book and couldn’t put it down.

The only thing I didn’t really enjoy with this book was the cameo POV chapters from the main characters’ parents. Because this was my first book by this author, I had no idea who these people were. I had to look up her past work to verify that I was missing something. I think these chapters will be very nostalgic for longtime readers, but as a new reader they felt like unnecessary filler and it took me out of the story. Also some of the characters have names I didn’t love but I got over it eventually lol

Audiobook Performance: overall this was a great audio! Even though I love Sebastian, my man cannot do a very good British accent 😅

TRIGGER WARNING: noncon, dubcon, violence, suicide/suicidal thoughts, probably more this was dark 😂

A real dark romance full of triggers

It took me time to warm up to the story. I love dark romances, but this one started in the worst way possible: with a rape. Just after the mention of a suicide, and, maybe, a suicide attempt–though Glyndon denies it.

Even after all the justifications for Killian’s behavior–his psychopathy, his habit of getting what he wants, his upbringing, his friendships, etc.–I’m still not sure of what I think of him. His seduction was more like sexual assault, his love more like obsession. Despite the insistence that he couldn’t have any feelings, he still had some emotional moments with his family. He was a complicated character for sure, not really loveable though.

And how Glyndon can fall for him is still a mystery to me. She seems to like being ordered around–why not–and she has some experience with neurodivergent people, thanks to her older brother. And, of course, Killian is handsome and sexy. But the things he does to her… I pass, thanks.

And yet… it’s a dark romance, so I didn’t expect sunshine and rainbow. I took everything in stride, and focused on the characters’ arcs. And that was one eventful ride.

Killian is neurodivergent, bordering dangerous, yet able to restrain his impulses. He seems to have accepted it, even thrived. Yet, the more we learn about him, the more he appears complicated. His family’s history, and his relationships with his parents and his brother, seem to have shaped him, as much as his mental trouble. Past traumas influence his attitude and the way he interacts with people. It was interesting to see him get closure, move on, try to redefine his life and himself through his relationship with Glyndon.

Glyndon’s life isn’t that happy either. It’s hinted several time that she suffers from depression, and that she lacks self confidence. Is she weak though? Not really, she’s feisty. That’s the main reason Killian is after her: she refused him. She grows up too in the story. A lot happens to her, and she realizes things about her, about her family, about the people around her. She goes through a few deceptions too. Her arc is quite interesting in the end.

The narration was perfect. I was surprised by the male narrator who nailed Killian’s coldness and lack of empathy. The female narrator, new to me, did a good job with Glyndon. It was nice to have cameos of narrators who appeared before in other books by the same author. Not exactly the usual happily ever after, but a real dark romance full of triggers, lead by perfectly cast narrators.

Welcome to the next gen!

In preparation for the release of book 3 I’m listening to the audios for books 1&2 and *phew* this audiobook so good 🔥🫠

I was in the mood for a dark romance read and God of Malice definitely delivered! Killian is the epitome of a psychopathic controlling morally black MMC and Glyn is his new obsession.

I really enjoyed this book even though I haven’t read the books about “the parents”. I will admit I definitely referenced the character tree a lot, because this book really serves to introduce all the next gen characters (sometimes even more so than focusing on the main couple), but I live for that shizzle in a book series so it was fine by me! Plus I’m now very excited to read about who I think the next 5 pairings will be!

No real story line. Overly innocent female lead character. Lead male character supposedly 19 with all the ‘experience’ he has. Gangsters in school playground.

Unexpectedly good

I only found two major issues. For a person that HATES to repeat himself, Killian LOVES to repeat himself. And unfortunately the female character lacks depth. All in all great story, it kept me hooked.

narration ruined it

the narration was terrible, I was really excited when I saw the list of narrators thinking it would be duet, it's not its dual and terrible. The main female voice is awful as a male, I DNF at ch 7. I was so excited and keen after tiktok reviews, definitely my kind of story. but I couldn't get past the poor narration.

Wish it was duet narration

Not the best I’ve heard from Rina Kent, it’s usually more obvious that she’s into it too. I wish it was duet narration. The male narrator’s female voice sounded like it was through clenched teeth with no actual character, which sucks more because Sebastian is a great narrator. The female narrator spoke so slowly that it killed all the tension. Kind of ruined the book for me, which is a shame because it wasn’t a bad story. Just an unfortunate start to the Legacy series as an audiobook. Please do all future ones as duet narration. The Monster series was fantastic.

I never connected with the MMC

I think the promise of dark fascination was really intriguing, and I enjoyed seeing the FMC react to situations Killian put her in. and don't get me wrong this book was VERY steamy and incredibly hot, but I'm not sure it was ever romantic, or that there was an overarching plot line. would definitely read more from this author, but this wasn't as much for me.

So freaking Spicey! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Absolutely loved this book. The kink was there from chapter 1! The characters development and growth was so great to see. The voice actors were a perfect fit, only thing I would change is that I wish they used the voice actors for every scene eg, his POV should still have the female voice actor talking for her parts and visa versa. I would highly recommend this book. Can’t wait to read the others in this series! 💖

Interesting story, enjoyed

I enjoyed this story. Narration overall was good, Dark and unconventional. Definitely for those who enjoy dark romance books and don't mind dirty talk and spice🌶🌶🌶. May be triggering for some.

Dribble and unnecessary abuse

I can’t believe I put my ears through that torture. What a poor excuse if a novel. The characters are pathetic. The violence towards women is appalling.
I should have stopped after the second chapter.

It was Meh

I've seen so much hype about this book, but I just don't get it.
The voice acting was okay. Not my favourite, but it was good. I prefer a duet style to pov chapters only, but that's just me.
Mmc has no redeeming qualities, and the fmc's actions make no logical sense.
I've read other books with the same TW's and character setups that didn't make me feel so bleakly for the fmc. I get the author was leaning for CNC, but it really missed the mark and was just straight up SA.
The "spicey" scenes people rave on about sound more like a victim statement than anything to fantasise about.
It could have been done so well.

I enjoyed this story and the narrators did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life.
