After a heartbreaking loss, Mark O'Neil finds himself back where it all started—Lavendale.

With a great push from his family and friends, he makes an appearance at All-Star weekend, where he finds himself reevaluating his life. His list of things to do: regroup, spend time with his boys, and land a contract with the Lavendale Knights. Saving a soft-spoken beauty wasn't on his agenda. When they collide, he is unable to see anything other than her.

Shayla Hawkins is an aspiring fashion designer who is on the verge of her first break. She is taking everything she has and betting on herself. But her boyfriend's pipe dream of being a rapper interferes with her plans—yet again. Now, with nothing left to fall back on and a delay in her plans, she finds herself in a detrimental situation.

With Mark's need to be the hero and Shayla's inability to speak up for herself, the two find everything they are lacking in one another. But how long does the whirlwind romance last when there are forces at play to ruin everything they're building?

I really like Aubree Penn’s writing but this one was rather slow. It took several tries for me to get through this one. Lauryn Nichols was good as usual; Midnite Michael didn’t seem to have much energy on this one. I’ve heard him narrate much better. This one was just ok.

Aubree be pynning! This entire series was great. This book showed what happens when you allow destined love to rule and quell all the doubts, fears, and negativity. Though Marc and Shayla had a ton of adversity (and I do mean a ton) the love and care they had for each other was not only the healing balm, but their ticket to freedom, literally. The supporting cast especially Marcella was just as vital to their personal and business successes. In the end, they got exactly what they needed while Lanez and Giselle got exactly what they deserved, well Giselle still needed a bit more but I digress. Again, Trei & Midnite did what needed to be done.

Good storyline. Good narration. Love the characters. I can’t waits for Makavelli and Tatiana’s book. I know it’s going to be just as good as the rest of the series!!

Really good book

Shayla needed every bit of reassurance and love she received in the end. I almost put the book down based on how Shayla allowed her ex and her girlfriends treat her so bad. How do you set me up for trafficking and not get stomped in the ground? How away? Glad Marks mama took care of her! Glad they both received their happy ending
