This book exceeded my expectations. I only downloaded to listen to it on my mail route while working. The author articulated the book so well I felt like I could see the scenes while reading them.

Morals are important

I couldn’t connect with the female MC at all. By chapter five, I already felt done because she came across as very surface-level—a basic hood girl with occasional flashes of depth, but nothing that felt consistent or genuine. Instead of growth, her personality felt forced. What really turned me off was how her friend’s comments about beauty and substance were framed as jealousy or shade, when to me it sounded like a valid call for self-awareness and depth. The MC herself felt unrealistic—rude, stuck-up, dishonest, and careless with her choices. She was presented as pretty and smart, but it never felt authentic. Overall, she came off like an imposter, and that made it hard for me to continue or root for her.
