After the body of a brutally murdered young woman is recovered from the Gulf of Mexico far from shore, FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett is called in to assist with the profiling of the murderer. Although only one body has been found, every detail about the gruesome crime points to the work of a serial killer. Have there been others left to die far at sea, where no one will ever find them? Is there a connection to be found, or is Tess searching for evidence that doesn’t exist?

Story
A serial killer stalks women in rural Ohio. He is deranged but brilliant, known only by the grotesque nickname the media has given him - The Doll Parts Killer. The name is apt. He dismembers his victims and leaves them in garbage bags in public places. A residential neighborhood. Next to a roller rink. Behind a Burger King. The investigation is a disaster. No physical evidence. Unreliable witnesses. To make matters worse, the FBI has lost contact with the star profiler working the case.

Publisher's Summary
Her body is frozen, unable to move. Her eyes are locked on the blood leaving her body in a steady string of droplets, collecting in the bone ash porcelain bowl engraved with intricate gold leaves. Her parted lips let out a shriek that no one hears. He just smiles and wipes her tears with cold fingers.
The girl: missing
After 15-year-old Kaylee disappears without a trace, FBI special agent Tess Winnett is assigned to the case that falls outside of the normal purview of the FBI. With every lead she uncovers, more questions are posed and with only one possible, terrifying answer: There are others like her who have vanished, never to be seen or heard from again.
Is there a pattern in these disappearances? What happened to the others who have vanished? Is there a connection, or is Tess chasing shadows?
The first 24 hours: critical
Frantic for answers and painfully aware of each passing moment, Tess has a choice to make - one that could save the life of a young girl: Was Kaylee’s disappearance a singular event, or was she the latest victim of a serial killer no one knew existed?
The odds of finding the girl alive drop with every second passing by, and making the wrong choice would seal her fate. Her blood would be on her hands.
The best-selling author of Dawn Girl is back with another suspenseful, gripping crime thriller. If you’re a fan of David Baldacci, Melinda Leigh, and James Patterson, you will enjoy Leslie Wolfe’s enthralling police procedural that will keep you listening till the end.

Great Read
Girl With A Rose (Special Agent Tess Winnett #5) was a great read by Leslie Wolfe.Fifteen-year-old Kaylee disappears without a trace. The FBI special Agent assigned to the case is, Tess Winnett. It seems as though more questions are posed with every lead that was uncovered. It seems as though there are other girls who have vanished and never seen from again. Tess is looking into the disappearances to see if there is a connection. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Excellent
Tess an agent with the FBI , summed to Pearson office, a personal favor to him, a fifteen year old girl missing. Last seen by her friend Alice, the governor’s daughter. Thinking it was a joke, since the governor has tried twice to get rid of Tess. Kaylee was Pearson grandchild. Reminding her she had a 100% track rate for solving, also people of importance she stood up to and got result.
You are on a rollercoaster with this story, Tess is determined, she is good, doesn’t back down, looking at the governor, and telling him she would interview his daughter, again of how his daughter was lying, She finally got evidence of who was involved, and who and why it was being done. Almost losing her life, and with phone calls from the governor will it be losing her badge also. Great fast action

Gripping and Compulsive Listening
This is the sixth book in the series featuring SSA Tess Winnett of the FBI (Supervisory Special Agent). This is a relatively quick listen at 3.5 hrs, more a novella than a book but don’t let that put you off because it’s one of the best thrillers I’ve listened to or read in a while.
I became immersed in this story, it felt like I was on the sidelines watching everything unfold, but a word of warning don’t read this at bedtime if you intend sleeping. The characters are well-drawn, have depth and feel real and the scenes are vividly painted by the author with everything having a real feel to it.
No spoilers but if you like great writing and a thrilling story I recommend you listen to this book. It can be listened to as a standalone but be warned you will want to hear more about Tess.
The narration is done by the extremely talented Gwendolyn Druyor who I think is one of the best narrators around. The story and the characters were brought vividly to life by her excellent narration. I had read this book when it was first released but listening to it lifts the story to a whole new level.

Another Winner!
My goodness I have to say that I can't imagine what night time is like for Ms. Wolfe! I cannot imagine writing stories like she does that sees so much into the psyche of the sadistic people she writes about. I'm afraid that I may dream about some of these books but I sure hope not. What happens in this case is so heartbreaking and i will even go so far as to say that I felt sorry for the young boy that this happened to and how it changed his life. i don't understand how parents can not love their children equally but I also realize that we all have to make our own choices in life. Tess Wynette may be getting a bad rap on the job but in the long run she's who you want on your side. Another amazing book!

A girl with a good book
I enjoyed this book. It did seem a lot shorter than normal and didn't contain the twist and turns I would expect of a Leslie Wolfe story but I still really enjoyed it. Mainly because I like Tess as a character, she is a tough FBI agent that isn't afraid to go up against the system, even if it costs her her badge. I would say she is one tough cookie but she would probably shoot me. I like the interaction between her and her co-workers, despite her being a loner at heart she knows how to get the best out of people. Leslie is a very talented writer and one of my favourites. In just a few short pages I was tempted to skip to the end to see if it was going to have a happy ending which meant it did keep me up listening until I finished the book. I can't wait for the next book.
Tess on being summoned to her bosses office is worried because she was involved in another officer involved shooting. This time it isn't for a dressing down or a reprimand. The bosses God daughter has gone missing and he needs Tess's help in finding her before it is to late. With no ransom call and no other bodies Tess can't form a profile of the un sub. All she can do is question the girls best friend, the governor's daughter a man who has already requested Tess's badge be taken away from her when she questioned his friends. What is he going to do over his daughter? One thing is for sure, if his daughter knows something about the missing girl then Tess is going to get it out of her one way or the other.
I love the pairing of this author with the narrator as both are very talented ladies and when working together it creates something amazing.
