The audiobook version was perfect!

Nate Crowley puts his wild imagination to darkly hilarious use with the fantastic Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh!, effortlessly elevating Warhammer 40,000 orks into compelling, thought-provoking characters. Relatively short but wide-ranging, This is a short but perfectly formed novel, and while the interrogation idea has been done before it’s perfectly suited to this story. Falx and her retinue make for an entertaining cast, and likewise Biter the interpreter (no spoilers but…he’s great), while Makari is every bit the vicious, slippery little monster, but at the same time strangely sympathetic. Of course, looming over everything is the menacing shadow of Ghazghkull himself, who’s utterly terrifying from an Imperial perspective, but depicted as such an interesting character that as a reader it’s hard not to root for him in the end!

best 40k book. WAAAAAAAAAAAAHG

It's all about Makari

I loved all the Makari bits, but I found the interrogation scenes hard to get into.

I never thought I could both love and hate Makari

Nate Crowelly is a genius, perfectly recreating the mind of an orc, if you haven't already read twice dead king I highly recommend it, the only other thing I have to say is WAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!

Crowley’z dun allroit fer a humie

My first introduction into the novels of Warhammer. This was a hilariously epic, intriguing, and engrossing adventure. Nate Crowley did a fantastic job of characterizing Ghazghkull, and making all the orks more relatable.

The voice actors convey their roles perfectly. From the dry wit of the Rogue Inquisitor Falx, to Makari’s dramatic and remarkably humorous retelling of Ghazghkull’s rise, fall, and rise back to power. Grouped with Hendrickson’s violent, xenos-hating Space Marine-ness, this is a lovable group of characters that I had a great time getting to know.

A really fun book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish! The narration switching really adds a lot to the listening experience and each narrator did wonderful in their chapters. It's not incredibly insightful or thought provoking it's just a super fun romp through the Ork culture of Warhammer 40k. However, I don't think I'd recommend this as your first Warhammer 40k book just because there's a lot of assumed knowledge with characters referencing various names and events in the universe without further explanation. If you're somewhat familiar with the lore already though this book is an absolute treat!

Nate I'd one of thebfew people who can truly understand what a Xenos story should be, and it really show, whole heartedly reccomend to anybody looking for a great story about the meanest greenest ork ever

Orc Wisdom on Headbutting

This kind of stuff is why I love this book!

To an orc, headbutting is something spiritual. To smash a problem with your head is to solve a problem with the gifts of Gork and the gifts of Mork. Hitting something with the thing that you think with, is the opposite of giving a speech, but is also the same thing, because speech is just another way of hitting people with your brain. Beatings of the mind.
