Publisher's Summary

Beth Leighton moved to Scotland to marry the love of her life. But then he betrays her and she is fatally shot. However the Archangel Remiel interferes, and she awakes to find herself in 18th-century England. Alive but confused and lost, she wants to go home - despite a roguish and handsome highwayman.

Christopher “Kit” Locke is haunted by his past mistakes and lives on danger’s edge, not caring if he lives or dies. He will leave that choice to Fate. Intrigued by the spirited Beth, he is drawn from his spiraling descent and is enlisted to help steal an evil artifact, the Viper’s Eye, a demonic soul-stealing jewel.

While the Archangel and the Duke of Hell battle it out, both Beth and Kit must also fight evil. When the stone seeks Kit's soul can Beth's love keep him from falling victim to the Viper's Eye or will she lose Kit to Hell's fire?

Really enjoyed this book - highly recommend

If you liked CJ Bahr's first book, Walking Through Fire, you'll LOVE this one! Unlike a lot of time travel books I've read, this one has a thoroughly likable modern woman sent back in time without the usual whining and repeated questions of "where am I? what's going on?" that often make me want to throw the book against a wall. I mean sure, the heroine is confused at first, and the rugged highwayman is equally confused by some of her expressions, but they both get over it and get to the heart of the story in short order. All of the characters, even the villain, have rich backstories that make them wonderfully complex and not just cardboard stereotypes. The pacing is brisk, with action-filled scenes that keep you tuned in from start to finish. The descriptions make the book come to life the way an audiobook should, and the reader's performance isn't flawless but his voice and accents are very enjoyable.

Can't say enough nice things about this audiobook, the overall package of story and voice was entertaining and ended far too soon. When's the next book CJ??

Forged in Fire

Loved book 2! I loved all the different types of characters such as the angels and demons. The story started off a little slow for me and then all the sudden I was done with the book!
Narration was by Ben Eastman again and nailed it.

GREAT READ!

I really enjoyed it! The narration is superb and gives the story that extra flair! The author did an excellent job with the character builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last! Now I have to read the first book (Walking Through Fire)! I look forward to reading more books from this author. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
