Acerca de esta escucha

The founder of Latina Rebels and a “Latinx Activist You Should Know” (Teen Vogue) arms women of color with the tools and knowledge they need to find success on their own terms.

For generations, Brown girls have had to push against powerful forces of sexism, racism, and classism, often feeling alone in the struggle. By founding Latina Rebels, Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodríguez has created a community to help women fight together. In For Brown Girls with Sharp Edges and Tender Hearts, she offers wisdom and a liberating path forward for all women of color. She crafts powerful ways to address the challenges Brown girls face, from imposter syndrome to colorism. She empowers women to decolonize their worldview, and defy “universal” White narratives, by telling their own stories. Her book guides women of color toward a sense of pride and sisterhood and offers essential tools to energize a movement.

May it spark a fire within you.

Beautiful

This book was a love letter and a call to action for BIPOC, disadvantaged communities, and women of color. Read by the author as well. It was empowering, insightful, and shattered open the feelings I personally closed off regarding my exsistence as a minority. I finally felt like I had someone who I could relate my experiences with. Very thought provoking, I highly recommend!

I needed this...

I am so thankful for this book. So much of her experience resonates with me, especially as a Latina who also grew up in a religious, blue-collar, immigrant household. It took me about three months to finish this book because there was so much I had to unpack and reflect upon in my own journey. Needless to say it's been an emotional journey listening to her words. Her parting words is exactly what I needed to hear: desahogarse. Gracias, chingona.

The book every Latinx needs to read

Prisca shares her story so beautifully, while helping me give words and feelings to the many shared experiences I feel identified with. I cried and laughed and got upset all over again while listening to this book. I felt seen and understood for the first time in a book.

OUTSTANDING Book

Real perspectives of women in color, with many of the stories shared that are unfortunately true even in today's world.

Brilliant

I started following her on Instagram in 2015; loved her then and this book was a culmination of watching her grow.

Relatable

I saw myself in so many stories shared by the author and I felt empowered as well. Her bravery telling about her trauma was inmensly powerful y generous as she understood the truma of her family too. Prisca Dorca es una mujer espectacular y es un espejo en el que muchas "brown" girls, nos reflejamos.
Throughout the audio, Prisca Dorcas kept an amazing clean tone of voice and at times, the emotion made it more powerful!

Very real to our immigrant experience

Loved the book, so personal but also so real to many of our stories and the exploitation of the picture with a minority Poor kid to calm the colonizers fake heart.

Very educational.

Such a great book until the acknowledgments. Her thanking her white husband to that extent made it somewhat like “girl weren’t you just talking about doing the opposite of what you are just saying.” At the end of the day she still acknowledge a white man in a book geared towards brown women. 🤷🏻‍♀️
