Story
When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

Enjoyed the whole series
First Light, Enter Darkness, Book 5, By: K. M. Fawkes is a post apocalypse story.
A short story about struggle of survival in an apocalypse. It has good characters and a good story line.
The story doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, it rounds it up.
I can’t only remember any corse Language. There are no sex scenes. Although there is some violence it doesn’t go into a lot of details.
Narrator Andrew B. Wehrlen does a wonderful job, giving each character their own individual voices. I enjoyed his reading.

Well written final book!
This is the fifth book in the series. It is almost my favorite of the series. I have been waiting and waiting for some happiness and luck for poor Brad. He has really had it tough for the last five or six months. I thought finding his father, Lee, was going to be a blessing but he also changed with the times. I was shocked and surprised at what happened in here...well actually through the whole 5 books.
I loved this series. Make sure you read them all to get the full effect of the devastation and loss of humanity. The author did a good job keeping me interesting in the storyline. Loving and crazy characters were written well. I enjoyed listening to this series

The end maybe a new beginning not sure
Well the story comes to a close for Brad it is a new beginning with Anna and kids he saved again from The Family when killed the occult leaders and fled. In some ways Brad is smart and remembers things his father taught him but in many ways he is an idiot due to at first he seemed to grow up but them when he lost everything it seems he started loosening part of his mind he became afraid, no backbone a looser. To make things ever worst he meets his father who he hates but would like to try again but at last he sees his father is a mental case and in someway as bad or worst than The Family. His father named Lee has never been a father to him or a husband to Brad mother and it been about 15 years since he last saw his father and most of his memories are not good of his father and after they met again he finds out a bit to late that his father has lost his mind and to show Brad that Anna was bad for him he shot Anna and kidnapped her son Sammy and the little girl Martha Brad had saved. For more of his adventures take the time to listen to the series. Yes Brad really got on my nerves because I personally feel Brad had mental issues like his father because all thru the book Brad was constantly talked to himself and yes he carried on conversation with himself see what you think!

Great survival series!
I was excited to listen to this 5th book in the EMP survival novel. The story line was interesting and the narrator was absolutely awesome! I did feel the damsel in distress, Anna, was a bit dim witted and ridiculous at times. I am sad to see this series end and I am looking forward to listening to more books narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen and more books written by Fawkes. I recommend these series of novels for anyone into the survival genre.

Entertaining series
This is the third book I’ve read/listened to by this author. They’ve all been in this series. I’ve previously listened to book 3&4 and I am looking forward to listening to book 1&2. These books are entertaining, not complicated or complex.
This book starts after Anna has been shot by Lee (Brad’s father) and he has taken off with Anna’s kids. They stumble across another encampment and have to navigate their organization. Eventually, Brad confronts his dad.
This is the tenth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Andrew B Wehrlen ) and I have enjoyed everything he’s narrated. He does this genre very well and has a good variety of voices without being overly dramatic. His female voices are good.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Left you disappointed....
As always, I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.
All in all, though, the author does create a decent protagonist and a few believable supporting characters, although their sudden mood swings are a bit dramatic, and the damsel in distress theme is really done to death, here, although he mercifully didn't toss in a steaming heap of gratuitous sex. I might eventually go on to volume five (If he wrote the whole thing as a single novel, I would have read it straight through, to be honest, simply to see what happened), but I'm going to get off the train for now.

Fantastic Final Book
I really loved this series and it finishes off so well! I don't want to give anything away so I'm keeping this short. Again, this book picks up right where book four left off and the pace keeps moving quickly until the end. The reality of what life could look like if our world was suddenly thrown back into life without any form of electronics is harsh and the author portrays it so well. All of the characters in this series are brought to life and you find yourself wrapped up in the story needing to know how it all turns out for them. The narration is great and definitely is a lot of fun to listen to. On a morality note, I would rank this one as a PG13 due to language and violence, although the language is much cleaner in this one than in a couple of the previous books. I would highly recommend the series to those YA and adults who like action, adventure, and survival stories.

Did she ever get back to Kansas?
The fifth and final instalment of the post apocalyptic serial, Enter Darkness, finds Brad still looking over irritating and deceitful Anna, who had been shot in the leg by his father before leaving with the two children and all remaining supplies. Despite her protestations to leave her, Brad naturally stays with Anna, wrapping her sound before, together, the set off in search of Sammy and Martha, lacking almost anything with which they might survive (including, it seemed, common sense).
This started as a terrific series, different from most, but this final episode and the one preceding it, just didn't have that feeling of honesty present in the earlier onds. Nevertheless, it was a quick and easy read and great!y enhanced by the narration of Andrew Wahrlen, who's pleasant voice read text and conversations briskly, with good emphasis and intonation. Without his fine performance, I would have had difficulty bothering to listen to the end.
My thanks to the rights holder of First Light, who, at my request via Audiobook Boom, freely gifted with a complimentary copy. As previously mentioned, as a whole this was a most enjoyable and different post apocalyptic series, well worth reading even if this, the series finale, is less inspiring.
