Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Samantha Towle comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel about love, lies, and rock stars.

The son of an icon.

He was a legend. Rock royalty.

A man I never met.

But I’m measured against him in every aspect of my life.

The only time I feel like me...the real me...is when I’m onstage with my band. But the more we grow in popularity, the more people compare me to him.

I’m not him. And I never will be. If only everyone could figure that out for themselves.

I need a break from it all.

Then, a confrontation has me jumping in my car, putting LA in my rearview mirror. And a stupid mistake ends up with my car on the side of the road. And straight into the path of a girl who is the exact opposite of everyone else in my life.

She’s like everything I used to know.

And she has no clue who I am.

Even if she did, I don’t think she’d care.

She thinks I’m cavalier.

I think she’s intriguing. And hot. Let’s not forget hot.

I’m stuck in this town overnight while my car is being fixed. But I’m thinking I’m gonna stick around a bit longer.

I’m Storm Slater, lead guitarist in Slater Raze and the only child of the late, great Jonny Creed. But, here, right now...I’m nobody. Just a regular guy.

I’m liking it a whole lot.

And I’m liking her even more.

This was the first book I have listen to in this series. Of course Elena and Jacob rock as usual. I loved the characters and even the friends. Family secrets, comedy, sadness, sexiness and HEA.

Loved it

Not gonna lie...I did not listen to the books prior to this one mostly because of the narration. I love Jacob Morgan/Zachary Webber and Elena Wolfe/Andi Arndt and I especially love when they narrate together ❤️
That being said the story was really good and it strays a bit different from the cookie cutter romance books you see a lot. I would definitely recommend

A hidden gem

Had me smiling and engaged in the story. I love the mcs comical whit. Steamy parts well done without going overboard into unnecessary pornish writing. Definitely a good one!

Enjoyed these characters

I really enjoyed these characters.
Storm has a rock star life, but is running from the shadow of his dead father he didn't know. Stevie is spunky and quirky and holds her own in a small town in Arizona. They accidentally meet and she doesn't know who he is, even when she finds out, she still doesn't really know who he is. Their banter is funny and sweet, it just comes naturally and I did giggle and laugh out loud a few times.
He can't stay in AZ forever, so they are on borrowed time, and they fall hard and fast. Jacob and Elena give wonderful performances as always. Enjoyable listen. It was over before I knew it, I was so into the story.

No real drama but still great!

I would have liked to have some drama with her ex Josh or something but this was still a very sweet read. If you like books with little to no drama the. This is for you. Narration was perfect! Love these two narrators. Very good book!

Fun, Flirty

Lightweight flirty rock star meets clueless stranger romance. Stevie is great, and despite the band going on about how “she’s not like other girls”, mostly she’s just not a groupie. She treats Storm like a hot guy instead of a star. Storm gets out of his maudlin head around Stevie.

Most of the POV scenes are Storm’s. In the middle, we meet Stevie and start to see her POV. I think I DNF’d this the first time because of not meeting Stevie until chapter 7. I was more in the mood for the story today, though, and kept listening. It was pretty good, if a little fluffy. My main issue with the romance is that Storm likes to make life altering decisions without discussing them first with Stevie. Good thing for him, she likes his surprises more than I do. What really sold me on liking it is how the band reacted to Storm falling in love.

Steam: Med-low. Some explicit and more closed door M/F & Rock Star/Groupie sexytimes on page. A little less often than I predicted from the initial scenes, but it’s not lacking.

Narration: I liked the narrators. I think they did a great job. The sound and speed levels were consistent so it was easy to listen to.

Excellent

This was probably the best book I've listened for a long while! No meaningless angst, funny banter and excellent narrators. Loved it and I'm hoping there will be stories for the other band members. So worth a credit!

Amazing: Jacob.Morgan and Elena Wolfe are incredible

This audio book was incredible. Unlike how I usually find an audio book, read book first then listen to audio, I went straight to the audio book. So I’m going to talk about that first. It’s not surprise to me that Jacob Morgan and Elena Wolfe nailed this audio, they do every time and as this book is available with Audible Escape it is a no brainer.

As for the story. I have not read anything by this author so I haven’t read the previous books in the series which I will be rectify.

This was a fantastic story. I love everything about Storm and Stevie and their relationship. I’m definitely hoping for some more books in the future. I think Storms bandmates can get into a lot of mischief in Arizona and should make for some excellent material with those three for sure!

❤️‍🔥🤩Amazing!

I’ve listened to so many books I’ve lost count. This book was so easy to enjoy and I loved how they didn’t force the couple to have a huge unbelievable problem to get over. Loved this so much…

Fun, emotional, gorgeous rockstar romance

A fantastic bonus for fans of The Storm series, but also a fabulous standalone rockstar romance, this book made me laugh and feel, and I fell in mad love with these characters. It’s a gorgeously emotional read, and I loved it!

Storm Slater is the son of Johnny Creed, lead singer of The Mighty Storm, who tragically died too young. Storm never got to meet Johnny, but he is the lead guitarist in his own band, living the cliched wild life of a rockstar, and is constantly compared to his famous father. It’s a lot to deal with, and when a revelation from his past sends him spiraling, he snaps and needs to escape his life for a while. Jumping in his car, he just drives, until he ends up in a small town in Arizona, and straight into the life of Stevie Cavalli.

Stevie is a small-town girl who runs her family’s bed and breakfast. Her father and brother own the local garage, and she gets called in to rescue Storm when his car breaks down on the side of the road. Being a proud fan of all things 80s she has no clue who Storm is when she sees him, which appeals to him, but it’s her confident, lively nature that really draws him in, and when it turns out his car needs some significant repair, he is not the least bit upset about having to hang around town for a while.

It's a great set-up, and so much fun as Storm and Stevie banter back and forth. They have an easy, friendly dynamic that is so entertaining, and they almost create their own little world together – one where Storm is free to be himself without the pressure of celebrity. Their fast friendship very quickly changes to attraction and real feelings, and they find themselves falling hard and fast. It’s sweet, romantic and sexy, and these two are just perfect together!

"I don’t think I’ll ever get close enough to Stevie. I want to be inside of her in every way that matters. Inside of her the way she’s inside me. She’s under my skin. It’s crazy. I’ve never felt the way I do with her or about her ever before."

But Storm’s life is back in LA, and he has commitments and a band to get back to. Neither of them wants to leave the other, but they both knew their ending was coming. Will they actually be able to let go?

“When I started driving that day, I thought I was running away from all the stuff I deal with,” he says quietly to me. “Turns out, I knew jack shit. I was driving straight to you, Stevie."

I love these characters so much! Storm is a sweetheart with a mostly happy life with a great family and friends, but he has vulnerabilities and is dealing with a bad situation. Watching him truly let go and just be for a while was gorgeous to see. And Stevie is just awesome. She’s fun and feisty, she speaks her mind, and she’s completely confident in who she is, while being completely relatable. These two are magic together, and I loved their story so much.

Being a part of The Storm series, we get to catch up with the boys from The Mighty Storm, which I loved! Especially seeing Jake and Tru still so happy together, and their teenage children, and the relationship that Storm has with the guys. I also loved the introduction to Storm’s band mates in Slater Raze, and would love to read more about this wildly playful bunch!

I loved this book. It’s sweet, sexy and fun with a beautiful love story and a gorgeously emotional journey for Storm as he finds his place and his people, and gets the happy ending he so deserves.

4.5 stars!

The audiobook is narrated by Jacob Morgan (Zachary Webber) and Elena Wolfe (Andie Arndt), and it’s a fantastic one to listen to! Arndt gives Stevie just enough quirkiness and Morgan is a dream as Storm, bringing just the right amount of emotion to this rock and roll badass.
