Publisher's summary

Finding Stevie is a dark and poignant true story that highlights the dangers lurking online.

When Stevie’s social worker tells Cathy, an experienced foster carer, that Stevie, 14, is gender fluid she isn’t sure what that term means and looks it up.

Stevie, together with his younger brother and sister, have been brought up by their grandparents as their mother is in prison. But the grandparents can no longer cope with Stevie’s behaviour so they place him in care.

Stevie is exploring his gender identity, and like many young people he spends time online. Cathy warns him about the dangers of talking to strangers online and advises him how to stay safe. When his younger siblings tell their grandmother that they have a secret they can’t tell, Cathy is worried. However, nothing could have prepared her for the truth when Stevie finally breaks down and confesses what he’s done.

Good not great

Another fine story from Cathy Glass, although certainty not my favorite. There just wasn't as much to it as the others I have read. I love how selfless, accepting, and wise she is and enjoy how she has grown as a person in this and other books that took place in her later fostering years. Recommended for Cathy Glass fans but if it's your first book by her I'd start somewhere else.

perfection as always!

Another fabulous listen by both author and narrator. Cathy Glass is definitely a thorough storyteller and draws a vivid picture of the triumphs and failures of the fostering system. On to the next!

gender fluidity and teenage angst

another great read by Cathy. Once again she shows us a child who is lost and becomes their light to find their way. Stevie was lucky to have you in his corner every step of the way. with your expertise and professionalism, you not only saved him, but his family too :) strong work!

Gripping!

Fantastic, brilliantly read and informative without going over the top with un necessary details which detract from the story.
Am already hunting for my next Cathy Glass story! Kept me intrigued with a few heart in mouth moments, the characters and voices really helped make this a wonderful listen.

wow

I found my self shouting at the book (Cathy) for not noticing the signs, exceptional book. I haven't connected to a book like this since 'a child called it' by the amazing Dave Pelzer. Keep them coming Cathy, read and listened to most of your books :)

Beautiful story.

While some of the book sounds like a journal reading, the overall story and related content captured me. Being the 2nd book of Cathy's that I have listened to, I find it easy to relate to both her as a Foster carer and the children due to my own experiences.
Thank you for telling your stories.

A good listen

This is the second book I've listened to about Cathy Glass and her fostering. If you like being informed of how fostering children works out then I recommend these books. It needs a special person to foster & Cathy is certainly one of these unique people. I will certainly be listening to more of her books. I loved the listening to the narrator.

what a turn of events

goodness this one truly has you wanting to listen for ours in end just to know what happens next. The synopsis of the book does no justice for it twisting content and what started out as a seemingly simple placement soon became rife with twists. at times heartbreaking and others unbelievably angering. The sheer professionalism, tact and patience of Cathy is no more evident than in Steve's story.

Was ok read

This was an ok read, felt like it took a very long time to get in to any kind of story then I did feel like it wasn’t THAT interesting. But that’s to me others might find it a great book. I found it a very long read for little story. Thanks! Still love Cathy’s books and work!

Great listen

Another wonderful book by Cathy Glass. Many of the current issues facing teens were the main subjects in this book. I can't recommend Cathy Glass' books highly enough.
