Resumen del Editor

Jackson is aggressive, confrontational and often volatile. His mother, Kayla, is crippled with grief after tragically losing her husband and eldest son.

Struggling to cope, she puts Jackson into foster care. Cathy, his carer, encourages Jackson to talk about what has happened to his family, but he just won’t engage. His actions continue to test and worry everyone.

Then, in a dramatic turn of events, the true reason for Jackson’s behaviour comes to light....

Cathy Glass does it again!

I’m heartbroken by the ending but the rest of the story is so intriguing, as usual. I’ve read nearly all of her books at this point and I’ve never been disappointed. My only negative is that I can frequently hear the narrator swallowing hard and, as someone who suffers with Misophonia, it’s incredibly distracting.

Another great book

Yet again Cathy Glass has written a brilliant book. Filled with several twists and turns, enough to keep me reading almost non-stop until I had finished it. The ending comes rather suddenly and is upsetting in a number of ways. Well done Cathy, you are doing a wonderful job both with your writing and fostering. Big thanks to the narrator as well, I rather like when the same narrator does all the books from the one author, and all of Cathy's books are narrated just right.

Narrator interpreted firmness as yelling :(

The story was the continuation and completion of Tilly’s story (begun in the previous book), and the story of a new child, Jackson. It had some happy moments, some wonderful ones, a particularly sad one, but it felt different than any of her others. While the foster children played a big part, I felt like they were a little less of the focus than usual. This book felt very core-family oriented with Paula, Lucy and her partner, Adrian and his partner, Cathy, and her mother all playing larger parts.

Cathy is always firm with the kids she fosters, but I’ve never enjoyed how the narrator reads “firm” as “yelling”. This book has more than the usual amount of Cathy being firm, and the narrator’s voicing of her makes her sound really horrible and out of control. If this was the only Glass book you’d read, you would come away thinking she was inappropriate person to foster abused kids!
When I read this again I will use text-to-speech.

Wonderful as usual.

I grab every single book by Cathy Glass. Coming from a dysfunctional set of parents, I always find comfort in her kind, caring demeanor. Denica narrates so wonderfully with her soothing voice.
My sincerest condolences to Cathy on her loss.

Cathy always has wonderful stories

I've listened to many of Cathy Glass' books and she never ceases to amaze me, on how loving and kind she is even when most carers would give up.

Remarkable skills

Cathy is a Miracle worker especially her observation and listening skills. Along with the love she gives the children she has the ability of getting to the heart issues.

Excellent book, wonderfully narrated

As always Cathy Glass doesn’t disappoint. This book had me tears, both happy and sad, and sucked me right into their world. Danika Fairman is the perfect narrator for these books. I can’t wait for Cathy’s next book.

Wonderful as always

Another amazing book by Cathy Glass. I have yet to find a fostering story of hers I haven’t liked.
Danica Fairman is by far my most favorite narrator out of all the books I’ve listened too...and I have listened to MANY!

Cathy often talks about her home in her books. It might be kind of strange of me but I often think about what her house looks like. Although she describes her surroundings well, “kitchen come diner” or “landing outside the bedrooms” I wish we could see a layout of her home.
