Resumen del Editor

When foster carer Cathy Glass is asked to foster Darcy-May, a two-day-old baby, she is very concerned.

The baby is coming to her straight from the hospital and will have no contact with her teenage mother, Haylea. Even more worrying, she will be brought to Cathy with a police escort, as it’s vital her extended family don't know where she is.

Abandoned at birth, Cathy and her family quickly bond with little Darcy-May, although they have to accept she will eventually leave them to be adopted. But fostering is rarely straight forward, and when Haylea asks to see her baby, a different story begins to emerge. It’s so alarming that even Cathy, a highly experienced foster carer, struggles.

Another book nicely done!

I have been reading/listening after getting hooked to Author Cathy Glass. So happy with this new release. Nicely done. I enjoy the realistic stories that she tells of the children. One never knows of torment some of these children’s relatives out though and she makes it known to us with her books. They are all nicely done with their needs and feeling coming first and what they encounter. Way to go Cathy on this one! Thank you for all that you do!

A tougher one to take than some of her others

This book definitely comes with a trigger warning. This is a finished tale of the two children, unlike at least one other of Glass’, so no need to carry on to the next book for more on a specific child.

Narrator remains an un-favourite of mine for this genre because she feels a bit too bright and a tiny bit baby-talking when Cathy is speaking to the children. But that is possibly just all my preference for the narrator of Maggie Hartley’s books (I believe her name is Peggy McDonald).

Interesting

This is an easy book to listen to. When I read the title details, it sounded like there would be suspense, with events slowly unfolding, but the author gave the meat of the book away in the first sentence. That’s my only complaint and the TBS a tiny one! I still very much enjoyed it.

C GLASS Books Still Influence in UK and Everywhere

I have read about a third of Cathy Glass’ (pseudonym) bestselling true-story books on being a foster mother or a pre-adoption carer and it is SO NOT FAIR to this author that I have only written a review for one of those books: it was early in my Audible membership and I was so worried about revealing spoilers that I wrote a very bland review which received maybe 1 thumbs up. Frankly, I feel most guilty that (owing to busy lifestyle) I never reviewed her brilliant and extremely moving account of a terminally ill father setting up his young son’s foster care before the Dad succumbed. Entitled “The Night The Angels Came” I was brought to tears now and then after completing this valiant book which included a bit of romance if I interpreted the writing correctly. So recently, I noticed Cathy’s recent book called “An Innocent Baby” and I purchased it despite one reader having mentioned that basically the book just mainly moves little Darcy-May from one room to another during the story. Hahaha! Such an honest review, of course, because the hospital had police deliver this protected baby to her at TWO days old! This is what infants happen to do—just relocate to the living room, kitchen, bedroom etc.—it’s their schedule! Lol. But this true story intrigued me as to why a newborn has a mystery attached to her file … and serious danger occurs in the ensuing revelation. It interested me a lot and I wanted very much to learn what develops in this particular foster care experience. Cathy does mention that the recent death of her own beloved mother occurred shortly before this event and I admire her for nobly working through some of her grief by pouring love into her ensuing charges—more than I child ends up in her care during this mystifying tale.

The C. Glass books are exceptionally well narrated with compassion and elegance by Denica Fairman, this was no exception: Well delivered, Ms. Fairman.
