Publisher's summary
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon returns to her Outlander universe in The Space Between, an irresistible novella brimming with adventure, history, and suspense - and available for the first time as a standalone audiobook.
Joan MacKimmie is on her way to Paris to take up her vocation as a nun. Yet her decision is less a matter of faith than fear, for Joan is plagued by mysterious voices that speak of the future, and by visions that mark those about to die. The sanctuary of the nunnery promises respite from these unwanted visitations...or so she prays. Her chaperone is Michael Murray, a young widower who, though he still mourns the death of his wife, finds himself powerfully drawn to his charge.
But when the time-traveling Comte St. Germain learns of Joan’s presence in Paris, and of her link to Claire Fraser - La Dame Blanche - Murray is drawn into a battle whose stakes are not merely the life but the very soul of the Scotswoman who, without even trying, has won his heart.
Featured Article: The Best Women Narrators to Listen to Right Now
One of the biggest questions listeners have when it comes to approaching a new audiobook is whether or not they'll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable, as audiobooks are at least a few hours long (with many clocking in at 20 hours long—or more!), and sticking with one person's voice for that time period can feel like a big commitment. We rounded up some of the best female narrators with a robust list of audiobooks under their belts.

Wealthy and arrogant, Gabriel Penhallow knows it's time to fulfill his dynastic duty. All he must do is follow "The Penhallow way" - find a biddable bride, produce an heir and a spare, and then live separate lives. It's worked so well for generations, certainly one kiss with the delectable Livia Stuart isn't going to change things. Society dictates he marry her, and one chit is as good as another as long as she's from a decent family.

Story
Mercenary Casia Greythorne cares about two things: completing whatever her latest job is and earning enough coin to buy the expensive medicine that's keeping her mentor alive. So when the king himself offers her a job, she can't resist the massive reward he offers - even if it means working with Captain Elander, the arrogant, mysterious right-hand to that king. Her partner may be infuriating, but at least their mission seems simple and quick enough: investigate the origins of the strange plague that's been ravaging their empire, help find a cure, and then call it a day.

Story
In 1761, on a sunny day in September, a King and Queen met for the very first time. They were married within hours. Born a German Princess, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was beautiful, headstrong, and fiercely intelligent… not precisely the attributes the British Court had been seeking in a spouse for the young King George III. But her fire and independence were exactly what she, and her King, needed. Because George has secrets… secrets with the potential to shake the very foundations of the monarchy.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy. His belly full of laughter, his life full of joy. Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away. The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play.

Good, but too brief
Wish there was more content. Missing a meaty Gabaldon book :(
Could have used more character development nonetheless...Davina Porter is perfect as the narrator as expected.

Michael and Joan--Hmm! Will They Or Won't They?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Oh yes. The author is my all time favorite and the narrator is one of the best around. The books are so well written and narrated that you want it to go on and on. But, you must have read the first three novels in the series before this novella. Please, do or you won't understand a thing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Space Between?
When the nuns realize that Joan is not the real daughter of Claire, then understanding blooms. The story leaves you wanting more because it doesn't really end. It is just the beginning of life for Joan.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Ahhhh, Davina Porter! She is the best. I've listened to her read the Outlander books, awesome experience. And, I've listened to her read other books. She brings her knowledge of dialect and language. She is truly an artist.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No. But the entire book made me want more!!! More!!! More!!!

Interesting revelation!
Would you listen to The Space Between again? Why?
Yes! This deepens the OUTLANDER series' characters. Now I better understand the background of the characters.
Any additional comments?
Buy this novella and enjoy the deepened characters in the series! 😊

Answers some questions..creates more...wonderful!
A must read for Outlander fans....questions answered and then I had more. I feel like we need another novella to learn more and see where the story goes.
I thought it would be hard to get through with no Jamie or Claire....but actually I got into it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good but too short given the threads it starts
Very very good, but it ended too soon. Seems as if it could be a nice corollary series to the Outlander series. Left some enticing plot threads hanging .
Would like to know what happens to all four protagonists after last scene.
Otherwise , the period atmosphere and detail, the development of characters' personalities, and the performance by DP, were of the quality I've come to expect from Diana G and Davina P.
