Publisher's Summary

A secretary's silent passion for her boss meets the acid test on a business trip...A man and a woman's mutual disdain at first sight shows how deceptive appearances can be...An insecure wife clings to the illusion of order, only to discover chaos at the hands of a house sitter who opens the wrong doors...A pair of star-crossed travelers take each other's bags, and then learn that when you unlock a stranger's suitcase, you enter a stranger's life. In their company are many more whose poignant, ironic, often humorous stories and unforgettable slices of life make up The Return Journey, a spellbinding trip into the human heart.

Poor audio quality

I am a big Maeve Binchey fan and have read or listened to almost all of her books. Unfortunately, this one is of such poor audio quality that it was impossible to enjoy. Even with best quality speakers turned up and anything else I tried, I had to give up. Very disappointing!

Great Stories - Terrible Sound

I thoroughly enjoyed the stories in this book, and loved the reader. But the sound was quite muffled and hard to hear sometimes - like she was reading in a box.

Short Stories

It is good to keep in mind that this is a collection of short stories. I kept feeling like I had to remember the characters' names in case the author tied the stories back in to one another. But they really are just independent stories and are all full of her rich characters. Some of them leave you hanging wishing for a more definite conclusion, but they were all delightful. If you liked Tara Road you will enjoy this book.

Good stories, sound quality not good.

The stories were good. The way they sounded was like a blaring but muffled speak. Same device I play all my books on and have never had this problem.

good narrator, terrible audio quality

Sounded like they called the narration into a radio station. First time I've ever heard something like this on Audible. Are you sure this wasn't originally recorded for Librivox? I always enjoy Maeve Binchy, and the narrator was fine, but the sound quality was not.

Love Maeve Binchy

She is a fabulous author. Only drawback is this is a series of stories that have you wishing for more.
