Publisher's summary
With over seven million copies of her beloved books in print, Sophie Kinsella is a true phenomenon. Now, after nearly two years without a hilarious new Shopaholic novel, here’s Becky...and baby!
Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is pregnant! She couldn’t be more overjoyed - especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery...to the latest, coolest pram...to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luke’s glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky’s perfect world starts to crumble. She’s shopping for two...but are there three in her marriage?
Critic reviews
"Through it all, Becky never loses her spark, making this fifth entry in the Shopaholic series every bit as delightful and hilarious as its predecessors." (Booklist)
“From sonograms to the hottest baby strollers to tricked-out birthing rooms... Kinsella’s ode to baby blues is both sly and slapstick.” (Publishers Weekly)
“As fun as a shopping spree.” (Entertainment Weekly)
“Faster than a swiping Visa, more powerful than a two-for-one coupon, able to buy complete wardrobes in a single sprint through the mall - it’s Shopaholic!” (The Washington Post)

Story
Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London’s trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season’s must-haves. The only trouble is, she can’t actually afford it—not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn’t pay much at all. And lately Becky’s been chased by dismal letters from the bank—letters with large red sums she can’t bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something.

Story
For Rebecca Bloomwood, life is peachy. She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need—and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York.

Story
Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch - unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados - and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?

Story
Sasha has had it. She cannot bring herself to respond to another inane, “urgent” email or participate in the corporate employee joyfulness program. She hasn’t seen her friends in months. Sex? Seems like a lot of effort. Even cooking dinner takes far too much planning. Sasha has hit a wall. Armed with good intentions to drink kale smoothies, try yoga, and find peace, she heads to the seaside resort she loved as a child. But it’s the off season, the hotel is in a dilapidated shambles, and she has to share the beach with the only other occupant: a grumpy guy named Finn.

Story
Ava thinks love should be found in the real world, not on apps that filter men by height, job, or astrological sign. She believes in feelings, not algorithms. So after a recent breakup and dating app debacle, she decides to put love on hold and escapes to a remote writers' retreat in coastal Italy. At the retreat, she's not allowed to use her real name or reveal any personal information. When the neighboring martial arts retreat is canceled and a few of its attendees join their small writing community, Ava, now going by "Aria", meets "Dutch", a man who seems too good to be true.

Absolutely FAB!
This is the BEST Shopaholic ever. Rosalyn Landor is the perfect narrator for this book, and should be on a very short list for narrating the (hopefully) NEXT in the series. If you love the Shopaholic books, this one is FAB! Get it today!

least favorite of the series
I have read/listened to all of Sophie Kinsella's books and look forward to the next one. This is my least favorite for the following reasons: The narrator portrays Luke in a different way from the other books--he comes across as too serious and sometimes mean when in the others he just seemed to be somewhat pleasantly perplexed by Becky. And Becky is inconsistent in her behavior as well--far too fawning over Luke and lacking the spunk that has made the character so appealing. Please--an obstetrician who used to have a relationship with the husband--who would ever consider going back a second time. That was unrealistic. It took me forever to finish listening, many car trips, a couple of flights, and a huge pile of ironing. I still look forward to the next installment of this couple's adventures but hope to see more of the characteristics in the first books.

Love the books but this is worst narrator
The narrator is waaaayyy to dramatic. Her male voices are cringe worthy. It’s hard to stay focused on the plot because it sounds like she’s trying to make her performance outshine the plot. I’ll get through it, but I’m tempted to up the speed setting to see if it helps. I hope she doesn’t narrate the next one!!!!!

Shopaholic and Baby
The story itself was easily 5 stars, but the narrator again was awful compared to the first two which really detracted from the enjoyment of it. Her voice sounded like a woman in her 40's instead of her 20's. I hated the way she called Suze "Suzy"
I always liked Suze and was glad more was done with her character this time around but the narrator failed to make her nearly as interesting as the one who read the first two books.
I would still buy the next book to see what happens in Becky's future life though...but hopefully by then they will get the original narrator back.

Changing Narrators....
I love these books, however, I do NOT love the changing Narrators. A series should keep the same narrator throughout, especially when the current narrator does not double check the series to see how names are pronounced and the characters are read. Ex. Suzie, is Sooze and always has been from day 1. I miss the last narrator who read Shopoholic & Sister.
Other than that, the story continues on about Rebecca's never ending shopping desires and must haves. Amusing and entertaining. I like to listen to these books in between deep and heavy storylines.

AWFUL Narrator
Story is Great! Narrator is BAD. Luke sounds like an old and stuffy man. Becky sounds old. Jess sounds weird. All other narrators were MUCH better. And yeah, the Suzy pronunciations were aggravating. It's Suze!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST LOVED IT!
This book is one of Sophie Kinsella's finest....I was a bit worried after the 4th book, Shopaholic and Sister, but this book came through...I didn't want it to end! I hope she keeps right on going with this series...

Good for mindless listening
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, its a fun story to add to the Shopaholic series.
What other book might you compare Shopaholic & Baby to and why?
Shopaholic and Sister
What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voices match perfectly with the characters!
If you could take any character from Shopaholic & Baby out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Danny. He's a ridiculously fab designer with high maintenance tendencies.
