Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Sophie Kinsella returns with a festive new Shopaholic adventure filled with holiday cheer and unexpected gifts.

’Tis the season for change and Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is embracing it, returning from the States to live in the charming village of Letherby and working with her best friend, Suze, in the gift shop of Suze’s stately home. Life is good, especially now that Becky takes time every day for mindfulness...which actually means listening to a meditation tape while hunting down online bargains.

But Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch - unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados - and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?

Her sister demands a vegan turkey, her husband insists that he just wants aftershave - again, and little Minnie demands a very specific picnic hamper: Surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old-boyfriend-turned-rock-star and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear. But as the countdown to Christmas begins and her big-hearted plans take an unexpected turn toward disaster, Becky starts to wonder if chaos will ensue, or if she’ll manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas after all.

I have missed Sophie K books!

I truly love Sophie Kinsella’s books. It’s funny because she references heartwarming Christmas movies in the book and this is book on par with one of those (which I love), only even more heartwarming, funnier, and even more adventurous than some plain Christmas movie. She has a knack for making you laugh the entire book and really grow to love and appreciate each character independently. This book is no exception.

On a side note: Sometimes I find myself agitated that she is with Luke, who is seemingly heartless and condescending throughout each story, but Sophie always wraps things up in a way that make you love her and Becky even more. If Becky loves Luke, who am I to judge?

If you can make it to the end, it’s wonderful.

I had a very difficult time tolerating the main character. I felt as though I was reading a young adult fiction, or reading the thoughts of a teenager. The first time I really began to enjoy the main character 2/3 of the way in the book.

At the very end, guiltily, I began to understand the main character and found myself siding with her. That being said, the end was perfect and i was glad that I finished it.

Loved all prior novels

I was excited to listen to Sophie Kinsella's new novel. I tried and tried to like this book. The protagonist is so clueless that it is very hard to listen to the story. I can't subject myself to any more. I want and am going to request a refund.
