Publisher's summary

A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand.

A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine. This particular year, a stranger stumbles into their campsite, and before long, the friends are plunged into the most remarkable adventure of their lives. They wind up in a life and death struggle, their only hope for survival locked in their shared past... and in the dreamcatcher.

Very good!

Not as good as having the book read to you by the author himself (Bag of Bones), but I do like this narrator. Haven't seen this movie yet, but I liked the book. Incorporates childhood comraderie (IT, The Body) with alien invasion (Tommyknockers).

Fabulously unsettling

I read this book when it was first published, and thoroughly enjoyed it then. Listening to the Audible version has been fascinating, bringing it to life, revealing facets of characters, putting the entire story into crisp, frightening clarity. Of note, I watched the movie version recently, and while it may have had its redeeming qualities (special effects), I found it lacking in depth, and totally off on some of the characters. All in all, a great listen; for me, King remains one of a few fantastic storytellers.

King treads old/new territory with Dreamcather!

What made the experience of listening to Dreamcatcher the most enjoyable?

Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale from Walking Dead for those who are fans of the show) gives a great performance and brings the story to life.

What other book might you compare Dreamcatcher to and why?

This is a pretty wacked out book and I can't think of a book that is similar. The story does remind me of Invasion of the Body Snatchers are something Cronenberg might come up with in movie form.

Which scene was your favorite?

When one of the guys is trapped with Mr. Gray in the cabin. A squirm inducing moment of body horror that is not easily forgotten.

Who was the most memorable character of Dreamcatcher and why?

I'd say its either Jonesy or Duddits. Both are the most memorable out of the main group who must face the evil around them.

Any additional comments?

This is a lot like It in some ways where we have lots of flashbacks between adulthood and childhood and how it all weaves together.

Pay attention.

Jeffery Demunn did a good job reading this book. The story was cool. I thought it got kinda confusing towards the end, trying to realize what was going with and where each character was, and where they were going. You have to be paying attention. If you zone out and try picking up where you left off, you’re going to be hella confused. The character I liked the most probably could have been left out of the story completely. For the most part, though. I thought this book was pretty cool.

Pretty Good

A little slow at first but worth sticking around for! Narrator was well paced and most characters are identifiable from the voice given. Really able to build a connection with the characters and contains parts that had me on the edge of seat with goosebumps.

Really am liking king.

I started first king book with the institute, then the stand then dream catcher. And I have his book are so well written to make you feel like u are in the story . I guess sometimes it seems like too many details but the details matter.

Dream catcher is so good. I was stuck in this book. The worst part was when it was over I wanted more. Then even worst was watching the movie which is so annoying if you have already read the book.
