Do you like gripping crime thrillers? Then discover the next unmissable chapter in the best-selling Dark Yorkshire Series.

A murder without motive. A bombing. The sins of the past revisited....

DI Nathaniel Caslin is heading up a specialist unit, an opportunity to make a real difference. Little does he know, decisions taken decades previously are about to threaten all that he holds dear....

Gangland tensions are on the rise as an uneasy peace is fractured in spectacular fashion. Two warring factions are lining up to unseat the other. Old adversaries rekindle their passion to exact revenge whilst the next generation seek to make a name for themselves. Meanwhile, Caslin is asked to investigate the mysterious murder of a private detective, revealing the vested interests of a multitude of figures. Finding himself walking the line between upholding the law and delivering justice, Caslin sees the past returning to haunt those around him.

A crime perpetrated years previously sends ripples far and wide. Some people have much to gain whilst others have so much to lose...none more so than Caslin himself....

Caslin Delivers Again

There’s Tartan Noir, Scandi Noir and now thrillingly Yorkshire Noir!
Set in real locations and with interesting characters, the Dark Yorkshire series really delivers.
Long may they continue, the five in the series so far move at a pace and leave you wanting more of what DI Caslin will encounter next.

Gripping read

I always enjoy JM Dalgliesh's books, but this one is the best I have read so far.

Great characters and plot and tightly written with no unnecessary over-writing, which often holds up the plot in some novelists ' work.

Well worth a listen!!

Have listened/read the previous 4 books in the "Dark Yorkshire" series and would recommend to anyone who loves a gripping crime thriller....on a personal note the main character "Nate" is very annoying...he is pretty useless and continues to make the same mistakes!....Having said this I am still a fan of the series.

Indestructible Caslin rides again

An excellent fifth book in the series and Caslin keeps going from strength to strength. Even though DI Caslin keeps getting beaten up and putting himself at danger, often not telling his colleagues what he's doing or where he's going, he's still a great character.

Looking forward to the next in the series.

Engrossing

J M Dalglish sets a scene like no other, he makes you feel you are there, that you are experiencing every moment, every sense. It is quite exquisite how he does this and makes engagement with the plot very deep and soulful.
His lead Character Caslan is a strange beast, and if I'm honest an irksome one.
I actually started reading this series of books because "Nathanial" (quite the worst Christian name for a downbeat cop) was sold as a flawed man who had descended into drug and alcohol abuse, and initially this made him feel a gritty real life rebel. Sadly over the series he's become a real bore, so upright and good that as I said he's become an irksome virtue signalling bland guy.
However the stories are always good and very engrossing despite I'm sad to say the awful narration of Greg Patmore.
I disliked him from the get go and felt in his voice he seemed ever so slightly 'camp'. He really seems to struggle with the voices of the other characters and in interpreting female characters he seems to make them all embody a sort of breathless 'drag' act type of delivery.
All this said I'm looking forward to the next book in the series! More engrossing stories with Caslan becoming even more Messianic!!

Shoot-em-up

This is ok. The lead character cass or something I couldn’t really get his name. In fact the hardest part was working out the different names and weather
They are goodies or baddies.
Oh look it’s a fine read. Does not move me one way or the other. Pity
