Very erotic

This is a very different style of book for me. One I didn’t know about but decided to jump in and give it a try. I am so glad I did. May have to experiment more.

Obsessed with this 6 star story.

Rylee and Christian are fabulous narrators and so many different voices from very young to very old. They did an excellent job! So I read while listening. It is a dark fantasy that should not be missed listening to the audio!

A Boston English elementary teacher Darcy O’Sullivan works at the orphanage she was raised at. The nuns had always treated her like a family member. Although she had a best friend at the school who was engaged and tried to get Darcy to date but she wasn’t interested. She just enjoyed reading her books and educating her young students and her cat Mr. Meow. She had been told as a child her biological father was a very bad man by her unwed mother before she died. Now she discovered this man had been paying for clothes, food, her tuition at the orphanage and all her expenses without any knowledge.

However she gets a letter with a thousand dollars that he has passed away and she must attend his funeral and the reading of his will where she will be be getting compensation being his daughter. Except when she comes to Fairydale, Massachusetts which is in the middle of nowhere and is told she to claim her large inheritance. However she must remain in Fairydale for two months as her father left her a large inheritance. Darcy is shocked and of course her fathers biological family is less than thrilled, plus there seems to be feuding with the wealthy families too she is connected to..

On top of this a lot of bad occurrences keep happening from being accosted, robbed, statues falling, fires, deceptions, betrayal, witches, ghosts, murder, magic you name it. Furthermore this book centers on reincarnation with a nobleman from the past named Amon d’Artan and Caleb Hale in 1955 the present time.Darcy is confused because when she sees a portrait from one of her ancestors Lady Elizabeth Montford from the late 16th and early 17th century who looks exactly like Darcy. Plus instead her dreams about another woman named Sela Mathers from 500 AD who also could be Darcy’s twin!

She starts falling for Caleb Hale who is going through ptsd from the war.a lot of guilt as she has romantic dreams about Amon d’Artan who was Elizabeth’s love.
Also he was also Sela’s husband from eons ago, Furthermore she also discovers she is related to all these Fairydale people who just want to use her for her magical abilities in her blood as they consider Amon a demon and are in the middle of their own war!

This book has alot going on but it is truly a beautiful story but check the trigger warning as it is a dark gothic fantasy and heavy on the spice, plus there is a rape, incest, murder, suicide, magic and other heavy subjects. It is really my first book by Veronica Lancet but I definitely will be checking out more books by this gifted author. This is one of my favorite reads of the year!

Incredible love story!

Bravo Veronica! This is an incredible love story that spans the centuries. The narrator’s were amazing. My favorite listen of 2025 so far.

Omg! I don’t have the words for the emotions and rollercoaster of storylines that I just inhaled. So sad that it’s over and holding out hope for more.

Worth the hype

This book was everything I hoped it would be! Right from the start you start to see so many weird things happening. The mystery and gothic elements immediately hooked me. We get dual timelines and we get to see two stories unfolding together. So even though the book is long it’s 100% worth it. I just can’t even fathom cutting this down. Honestly, I would’ve loved even more in the end. I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t go into details 🤭 But lord, the MAN Amon is 😩 He was as perfect as they come!!! The way he loved with his whole heart and soul!

Amazing, Spicy, plot twist filled, emotional wild Ride

4🌶️. This book is long and I enjoyed every minute of it! The twists and turns of the story keep you intrigued and guessing. Even if you guess some of the twists you can’t catch them all. This was a beautiful story and unlike anything I have read before. The male narrator had an interesting voice that didn’t totally match my idea of the character but I still enjoyed the audio. The ending seemed a bit rushed and one ploy point left open made me search for a book 2. So I think the pacing and thoroughness of the ending kept me from giving it 5 stars.

It was a wild ride… in every way!

This was not what I expected and I think it’s a good thing. In a lot of ways the story surprised me and kept me enthralled, even when I felt like I was drowning in the plot. Excellent narrators. Rylee’s and Christian’s capacity to change the listener’s relationship with each character was a pleasant surprise and seamless. Still reeling from this wild ride!

Unique story at first but lost interest half way through as it became very predictable.

Great suspenseful storyline! Excellent narration!!

The storyline had me constantly wanting to jump to the end and find out what the heck was going to happen...but I don't do that, so I didn't. The 3 timeliness was not difficult to follow, and the characters are very well written. Narration is fantastic. Both narrators do wonderful job of portraying each different character they read. I 100% recommend!
