Would love but…Execution (both text and narration) lacking

In so many ways, this material has a lot to offer. I really wish I could give this a better ranking. As good as the story and context is, it really needed more co-text all around. I have over 600 titles in my library, and this is one of a few that I found difficult to follow. I was also very disappointed in the narration. I understand the need for “flat” for the MMC and, in fact, it is needed, but this was not the right casting for a mostly “flat” vocal performance. As for the MFC, her voice alone took this down. If you like the voice of Eve in the Lucifer show, you’ll be fine, but for me it’s a hard voice to stomach for a main character.

I just finished reading 'The Cute Psycho: A Dark Mafia Romance' and this book will stay with me. The story is raw, brutal and real. Vlad is a morally gray broken hero who will capture your heart (maybe literally) and Sisi is an ex-nun with a dark past. Their chemistry is electrifying and addictive. But be warned, this book deals with some heavy themes (check trigger warnings)and has a cliffhanger ending that will leave you desperate for more. If you're a fan of dark romance, you need to meet Vlad and Sisi. Just be prepared for a wild ride. Just… brace yourself.

Wild Story

The story was solid, and I loved Vlad. Not sure what that says about me 😅 I struggled to finish it though because the female narrator grated on me. It sounded like she was narrating through clenched teeth most of the time. By the end, I was convinced that her tone when angry, sad, and orgasmic was the same. I normally don't comment negatively on ratings, so this was hard to even share. I really like the story and am hoping the author doesn't move forward with her when she's ready to record the next one.

Dark, intensely emotional story!!

Hmmmm. The Cute Psycho, an Audiobook by Veronica Lancet was the deliciously dark romance about Vlad and Assisi (Sisi). He is brutal, dark, remorseless, and wrapped in gore. She is a novitiate. The exact opposite of Vlad and someone he is drawn to. But, Sisi has her own dark desires….

This story is extremely dark. Heed the Trigger Warnings. But, it is a story that you just can’t stop listening to…it’s utterly fantastic, gory, horrifying, dark…and oh…so…good!!! Excellent dark romance!!! This is book one of a duet…and ends in a huge cliffhanger!!!

This Audiobook was phenomenally narrated by Molly Briar and Hector Carrillo. Her portrayal is spot-on for the morally ambiguous Sisi….perfectly expressing the inner turmoil she has over what she is and what she wants. Hector’s performance was creepily perfect. He performs Vlad as if everything Vlad feels, experiences, and does is perfectly normal. The normality is what makes the performance so eerie. Loved them both!!!

The narrator choice was perfect!

Wow, just wow! The Cute Psycho is a gripping dive into the mind of Vlad Kuznetsov, a psychopath molded by a mad scientist’s cruel experiments. The narration was absolutely phenomenal—every emotion, every chilling moment, brought to life with such intensity that I found myself completely absorbed. Point blank period, the narrators nailed it!

The storyline pulled me in right from the start, and the intricate backstory behind the characters added layers that I wish could have been explored even further. Vlad’s journey from a dangerous loner to someone who craves connection is beautifully crafted, and Assisi Lastra, the fiery little nun, is the perfect counterbalance to his darkness. Their dynamic is electric, and the character development is top-notch. Watching them navigate their complicated relationship kept me on the edge of my seat.

This book is undeniably dark, so I recommend checking the triggers before diving in. It’s not for the faint of heart, but for those who dare to venture into this morally ambiguous world, it’s an exhilarating ride! I can’t wait for the next book in the Morally Ambiguous Duet—I’m already craving more of Vlad and Assisi’s story. If you’re looking for something raw, intense, and beautifully complex, this one’s for you!

The Nun and The Killer

I loved every minute of this book. Vlad’s childhood is so sad. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in his mind. Assisi’s childhood is also very sad. Sisi calming Vlad’s mind when he is in chaos is so poetic. This was definitely a very dark book, so you should definitely pay attention to the trigger warning. However, I laughed, cried and felt for both the main characters. The ending was so sad and an absolutely cliffhanger. Molly Briar and Hector Carrillo really did any amazing job bringing this book to life. I can't wait to hear more of Vlad and Sisi’s story.

Dark & Emotional

I read My Cute Psych0 back in February. But I must say that listening to the audiobook brings this story to a different level. I would do a disservice by saying something as cliché as the audiobook brings it to life. Molly Briar’s narration of Sisi brought more emotion into the character. Several scenes stood out when I read it as an ARC. Some were dark and heartbreaking, but listening to the book brought different feelings. It wasn’t just a dark and painful scene; through the narration, I could feel what Vlad and Sisi were going through.

Definitely a Dark Romance

I couldn't stop listening but please before you dive into this book, make you read all of the trigger wanrnings...

I cant wait for book 2 to be on audible
