Publisher's Summary

The extraordinary new Lucas Davenport thriller from number-one New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize winner John Sandford.

After the events in Gathering Prey, Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation - no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend, the governor, is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff. "Should be fun!" he says, and it kind of is - until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor...and anyone who gets in the way.

Critic Reviews

"The latest Prey novel is exciting, politically astute, and ultimately terrifying. Sandford and Davenport are in top form.” (Booklist, starred review)

“Add a hammock under a shady tree, and you've got a quintessential summer read.” (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

“Sandford, as always, sets a heart-pounding pace. He permeates his work with wit, an engaging hero readers have come to cherish and a cat-and-rat match that in this case draws on the streak of violence that for years has left a bloody stain on the nation. Timely and troubling, it’s a must-read for thriller devotees and political junkies.” (Richmond Times Dispatch)

Sandford does it again!

Everything you expect from John Sandford and Alex Delaware. Narration was perfect (as always) and story was good. when I started it I thought it was too simple and was going to be a very disappointing read. I was wrong. I liked this one as much as any of his others.

Wonderful series

I listened to ever book in this series and everyone was good but most were spectacular. I just hope I can find books that are at this level. I loved listening getting to know all the characters.

Great entertainment

Kept me interested from beginning to end. I love Richard Ferrone's narration. He's excellent. I've read pretty much all Sandford's novels. He's a great suspense writer.

Top notch

Another well written tale by Sandford. Lucas doing it his way, with a little help from his friends. Plenty of action.

Good Story

Narration was not my favorite. All the female parts were very breathy , like a characuture of women. The story was pretty good. But for a guy who is supposed to be so smart, Davenport does some dumb stuff.

Dazzling - as usual. I love his characters.

Take Davenport out of MN and he still one of my all time favs. Lsst couple chapters at the Iowa State Fair done so well I could smell the deep fired Oreos.
