John Sandford Does Not Disappoint

Ocean Prey is what I expect from John Sandford, which is a great story, characters I have grown to know and love over the years, and a few twists here and there.
Richard Ferrone is a master of Sandford's characters. In the 1990s I preferred Eric Conger and Ferrone was an adjustment, but I have grown to appreciate his narration of these novels. I can get my Conger fix listening to Virgil's adventures.
The book is well-written. The narration is good. Another homerun by the master!

Great Listen!

Maybe my favorite Prey yet! Loved having Virgil, Lucas, Bob, and Rey all together. Loads of suspense and humor. Well done and thank you, Mr. Sandford.

Excellent!!

Loved it! Great story line! Learned something about scuba diving, Miami, doughnuts ;), drug dealers,... Interesting characters to say the least. Sounds like there's room for more to come. I'll be ready to listen!

Well done

The story is well written with new and old characters appearing, but you don't have to know the series to enjoy the book, the abbreviated backgrounds in the story are plenty. I didn't care for the whiny Virgil voice in this audio, he sounds much stronger in the Flowers series.

Lucas Davenport Again!

Having lived in Minneapolis the first half of my adult life, along with being evolved with both sides of the law - I find the "Prey Series" one of the BEST!! J. Sandford has one again penned an amazing tale. PLUS Richard Ferrone could read me the phone book & I'd be hooked🎉

Lucas and Virgil Team Up

I listened to this book narrated by Richard Ferrone. He is the voice of Lucan. This is another fast paced thriller with Lucas working with the FBI to solve who shot the coast guard guys during a drug recovery. Lucas and Bob are working the case, under cover. Lots of back and forth between Florida and New York with Mafia connections. Virgil is asked to join the hunt as a seasoned diver. First he must be trained. Rae joins as his love interest. There is so much going on that you wonder how John Sandford keeps it all straight. But, he manages to lead the reader on an adventure and keep the plot moving and keep everything straight. It is a good prey novel but may be over ambitious since there isn't time to develop the characters. There is no involvement of Weather except by phone. Virgil and Rae play prominent roles and contribute to the solving of 'who shot the coast guard guys.' Ready for the next book.

Enjoyed this one immensely. One of his best.
Exciting page turner. Could not wait for time to listen to more.
Suspense, humor, just a basic great story.
Thanks, Mr. Sandford for 12+ hours of good, clean fun!

Edge of seat listening

Sanford never disappoints.
I have read all of the Sandford prey series
and this one is right up there with the best.
Highly recommended !
Also, Richard Ferrone is a great reader!

Prey-full?

I’ve read most of the Prey series. I think I have finally gotten to the point where they have become too formulaic. I may be done.

This one in particular didn’t have enough interesting twists and turns. The interest value was supposed to be that the ocean was involved? Enough.
